My forthcoming book, The Music of the How to Train Your Dragon Trilogy: A Guide to the Scores of John Powell, is now available for pre-orders from McFarland Press. I worked with John and Batu Sener and was granted access to all of the score materials and cue recordings before the scores were published by Omni and the Deluxe Edition recordings were released by Varèse Sarabande.
The book contains thematic analysis, listings of themes within cues, cue analysis, and expansive quotes from the composer. My expectation is that the book will be in print this Spring. It was a joy to have the support of John and his team throughout this process and I hope this book will serve as a worthy accompaniment to your enjoyment of the music and study of the scores.
Looks very impressive! How many pages (and how much is for each one)?
The publisher is listing it for $55.00 (I have nothing to do with that). The book size is 7 inches by 10 inches. Not sure about pages yet, but I would guess between 150-200.
Bumping this, as today is the release day for Omni's score book of The Hidden World, and Varèse's release of the Deluxe Edition of the recording of The Hidden World.
