With all the magnificent CD releases this year -- five Bond titles, three Star Treks, John Williams' Sugarland Express (finally), Ennio Morricone's For a Few Dollars More, Henry Mancini's original tapes for The Pink Panther, and so many more -- it's easy to lose sight of this truly remarkable gem by Oliver Nelson that came out in the spring. This has been one of my most played CDs this year. Besides being the closest we've come to music from The Six Million Dollar Man, it's a magnificent sounding release from a composer who is woefully underrepresented. Any serious (or funny) soundtrack aficionado should have this in their collection. Here's hoping for another major bionically charged release from Oliver Nelson in the near future.
I agree, Scotty! We've been spoiled this year with so much great stuff, but this particular CD is still my favourite, or one of them. And let's not forget the excellent ZIGZAG, released by FSM way back.
