Wow, thanks for the heads up, Justin. I've never even heard of that special, but I'm definitely in for a CD!

Is that the episode where Snoopy and Lucy arm wrestle AND in which Lucy gets her behind handed to her. If so, FAN-FREAKING-TASTIC.

Great news! I’m glad they’re not stopping at the big three holiday specials, and hopefully this will sell well enough to keep the tradition going.

A wide release of Vince Guaraldi's soundtrack for It Was a Short Summer, Charlie Brown has been officially announced for July 5, 2024 - the Film Music Reporter article was based on the early appearance of pre-orders at Amazon.

The album will be available as a CD, digitally, a regular black vinyl (available at all retailers), and a Record Store Day Indie Exclusive "summer night blue" vinyl.

The CD, digital, and black vinyl are available to pre-order now from Amazon (and other retailers soon if not already), and the RSD Indie Exclusive variant should be pre-orderable from record stores sometime soon.

More details:

Full press release:

Three sample tracks:

The producers of the album, Jason and Sean Mendelson, have done two podcast/video interviews about the album:

WCB Jazz Vinyl - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u2vL4kNg3QM

Cereal at Midnight - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KblXHJg0TFg

And to answer a question from above - yes, this is the one where Snoopy and Lucy have an arm-wrestling contest.

Great news for Guaraldi and Peanuts fans!

This title looks great! The more Guaraldi Peanuts music, the better!:-)

The album is out today and sounds great!

Apparently the "regular" black vinyl will be a few weeks late due to production delays - but the CD, digital and Record Store Day Indie Exclusive "summer night blue" vinyl are all available now.

I’m listening to it now on Amazon Music Unlimited. Great stuff!

Got my CD copy in the mail along with Sugarland Express yesterday. Pretty good day for 50-year-old premiere releases.

Spinning the CD now and it's so much fun, a jazzy and groovy pre-funk gem with some colorful, moody chamber pieces and loungy bossa bits. Somehow, this particular Peanuts special went under my radar over the decades, so its mere existence was a surprise when this soundtrack was announced, and what a wonderful one it's turned out to be!

i have not seen this one, Charlie Brown always brings up a lot of nostalgia though, good feelings.
I need to watch this one, all the Guaraldi music is terrific stuff.
