SEASON 1:

Once again, Dragnet was attempted. In 2003, Dick Wolf tried a new version. Unlike the bad 1989 series, this is a remake and keeps things from the original series.

The Walter Schumann theme is kept, but it's a butchered updated version. Miklos Rozsa also gets credit for the theme.

    A whole lot of same-y generic synth pads and repeating synth sounds. Sad to say, there's nothing from this series that Mike Post did, that needs to be released.
    And this series is, quite frankly, an insult to not just the original 1951 series, but also the continuation series. And that's quite a thing to say considering how bad that 1989 series was.


    And with that, Dragnet ended. There is always a chance I missed something, but I don't see any news about failed pilots or remakes in the works. And thank goodness for that, in today's age. I shudder to think what they'd do with it today. Webb would be rolling in his grave potentially.

    And with that, Dragnet ended. There is always a chance I missed something, but I don't see any news about failed pilots or remakes in the works. And thank goodness for that, in today's age. I shudder to think what they'd do with it today. Webb would be rolling in his grave potentially.


    We join the first (and only episode) of the rebooted DRAGNET 2024, already in progress:

    Joe Friday arrives at the crime scene to interview the only witness.

    Friday: "Can you explain to me happened here? And just the facts, ma'am."

    Witness: "How dare you misgender me!"

    Friday: "I'm sorry, ma'-- I mean, si--... Look, what happened?"

    Witness: "It doesn't matter, because it's, like, there ARE NO facts -- like, all that matters is, like, _MY_ truth..."

    Frustrated by the uncooperative witness, Friday returns to the precinct, where the Police Captain call him into his office.

    Captain: "Look, Joe, the word just came down: the City Council just voted to defund all police in the city. We've been fired. Go clean out your desk and locker."

    The rest of the episode consists of Friday putting his personal effects into an environmentally-friendly, reusable box and walking out to his car...
