Love the enthusiasm for this score. Saw this (uneven) movie at a “midnight show” circa 1982 and quite enjoyed the rock songs/orchestral mix. Found the Bernstein lp a couple of years later, at a time when I was starting to explore his music more, and was completely bowled over by its series of tremendous set pieces. Not as iconic as the mag 7 but equally extraordinary. I thought I was happy with the FSM version but this ultimate version is calling me by name…. PS some enterprising new hack director could needle drop the unused “Bomber and the green ball” track as a main theme and blow modern audiences away

I worked at a theater that ran Metal for a good couple years as a Midnight Movie. I have bought every version of this one, and playing tha album edit alone tonight....the L wins again. Not ready to share my thoughts on the Film Score, but am sure it will be magnificent (that word again, dayyyyymn!). The other 1450 folks out there that do not own this....how canna sell it to you? A wildly varied old school thematic episodic score, performed to the hilt with gorgeous symphonic colors, themes encompassing brassy action and lovely romantic interludes, capped with engaging scoring for large symphony orchestra & chorus - A true bridge of Golden & Silver Age sensibility, culminating in a Grande finale of Epic proportions??? Ping me, I'll come to your home and conduct this work, only to sell you on its Magnif.....Greatness!

Revisiting my own commentary.... The L set is ESSENTIAL. MY CAPS HOPEFULLY CONVEY!!!! Absolutely gorgeous master, engrossed in the hour long film version, and if I wasnt an unpaid shill to the L already....this is cake. Sumptuous remaster, the Royal Philharmonic of London shining in the film tracks and beautiful album revisit.... Fans of this, a must buy. Fans of Elmer Bernstein, a MUST buy. Fans of incredible symphonic, thematic music, A MUST BUY!!! Fans of First Breath synths....avoid, you'll hate this. Really hate this old school, Golden Age, flirts to 50s jazz age & 10 Commandments Stmphonic orchestration....you would REALLY Hate this. I hope my amiga, Joan, has a copy. Absolutely fantastic work, and Sorry LK!, the L scuttled you hear...
