I wish him a speedy recovery! Indeed. And if they're getting David Newman to fill in, it's still a pretty good show.

[Nerd alert! Needlessly snarky remark to follow] If they were performing the likes of EL CID, PICNIC and FOREVER AMBER, I wouldn't give a dinky-darn if it were conducted by Vanna White. I'd be there for the music, not the dude with the baton.

And the music being poorly performed would still be the music you’re there for? There's been plenty-o-orchestras who gave performances where they paid zero attention to the conductor.

From the Hollywood Bowl: Due to a recent health concern, from which he is expected to make a full recovery, John Williams will be unable to perform. Maestro Williams originally planned to share the podium with conductor David Newman, who at John’s request, has graciously agreed to conduct the entire concert. The program will otherwise remain unchanged. Let me say having David Newman as a conductor for the whole concert will be a real treat. He's extraordinary. My best Missus gifted me with tickets to this. Shattered JW isn't conducting. Elated David Newman took over as he is not only an impeccably fine conductor, an astute & excellent composer.

That's a ploy. It's his dominoes final.

Chicago now cancelled for October. Replacement conductor at least. Wow, that's 4 months from now...This sounds serious. Maybe 'The legacy of John Williams' or 'John Williams Fan Network' can shed some light the current situation.

The particulars of John Williams' health are none of our business. It doesn't hurt to ask, as long as it's civil.
