John Debney (The Passion of the Christ, Elf, The Jungle Book, Iron Man 2, Hocus Pocus, The Garfield Movie, Bruce Almighty) has composed the original score for the new comedy Space Cadet. The film is written and directed by Liz W. Garcia (The Lifeguard, One Percent More Humid) and stars Emma Roberts, Tom Hopper, Poppy Liu, Gabrielle Union, Desi Lydic, Kuhoo Verma, Sebastián Yatra, Andrew Call, Yasha Jackson, Troy Iwata, Josephine Huang, Sam Robards, Dave Foley and Joshua Harto. The movie revolves around a young Florida woman who has always dreamed of going to space, when her “doctored” application lands her in NASA’s ultra-competitive astronaut training program. Greg Silverman (Pink Skies Ahead, The 24th Day) and Jon Berg (Doctor Sleep, Justice League) are producing the project for Stampede Ventures. Space Cadet will premiere on July 4, 2024 exclusively on Prime Video.
Here's hoping we get a soundtrack for this announced soon. The director's previous film One Percent More Humid got a soundtrack release, so there's a chance.
I couldn't bring myself to watch this film, but Debney's beautiful theme plays over the very end of the end titles and is worth a listen. Someone made a mediocre recording that you can listen to here:
