Netflix’s ‘Twilight of the Gods’ to Feature Music by Hans Zimmer, Steven Doar & Omer Benyamin
Hans Zimmer (The Dark Knight, Gladiator, Dune, The Lion King, Inception, Interstellar) has collaborated with Steven Doar and Omer Benyamin to compose the music for the upcoming Netflix animated series Twilight of the Gods. The show is created by Zack Snyder (300, Dawn of the Dead), Jay Oliva (ARK: The Animated Series, Trese) & Eric Carrasco (Justice League vs the Fatal Five) and features the voices of Rahul Kohli, Jamie Clayton, Peter Stormare, Kristopher Hivju, Jamie Chung, Lauren Cohan and Corey Stoll. The fStone Quarry Animation production tells the story of a mortal king who is saved on the battlefield by an iron-willed warrior with whom he falls in love and – after surviving a wrath of terror on their wedding night – embarks on a merciless mission for vengeance. Snyder and Oliva are also executive producing the project with Deborah Snyder & Wesley Coller (Rebel Moon, Army of the Dead) . Xilam Animation is the animation studio. Zimmer has previously scored Snyder’s feature Man of Steel and co-scored the director’s Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. Doar & Benyamin have been part of the composer’s team over the last couple of years with Doar providing additional music to both Dune movies and Barry Levinson’s The Survivor and Benyamin writing additional music for this year’s Dune: Part Two. The project marks both composer’s first full scoring credit. Zimmer confirmed the exact credit on Instagram. Twilight of the Gods will premiere on September 19, 2024 on Netflix.
Doar has been part of Hans' team at least since he was a technical assistant on Dunkirk. Benyamin was on Ramin Djawadi's team starting in 2016 but moved over to sequencer programming for Hans on the remake of The Lion King. Both have seen escalating responsibilities since, and it's nice to see them both get what I believe is their first lead composer credit.
I may be interested in the music, but FFS the animated people actually do the Flying/ Jumping In Slow Motion Battle thing, which is hilariously ridiculous
