The Belated Search for More Money? The Schwartz Awakens? Rise of the Schwartz? Spaceballs 3: The Search for the Missing Sequel? The Schwartz is once again rising. From one of dragon53's film/TV news/trivia threads today: SPACEBALLS 2---Josh Gad is reportedly the star/co-writer of the Amazon MGM Studios sequel to the 1987 Mel Brooks STAR WARS parody movie which starred Bill Pullman, John Candy, Rick Moranis and Daphne Zuniga. Broooks is returning as the co-producer.
So, since John Morris is sadly dead now, who to score it. Obviously whomever the director is, will pick their own composer. But some ideas: Brooks did work with Hummie Mann some. Mark McKenzie I think could do a good job. Obviously science fiction television series contributors I always bring up: Dennis McCarthy, Jay Chattaway, David Bell, John Debney, Don Davis. Even maybe Bruce Broughton. Just no Zimmer, Zimmer clones, Bleeding Fingers, and no Balfe.

From one of dragon53's film/TV news/trivia threads today: SPACEBALLS 2---Josh Gad confirmed he will write the script in addition to starring in the sequel to the 1987 Mel Brooks STAR WARS spoof movie.
Tell me he doesn't strike you as maybe the son of Dark Helmet.

From one of dragon53's film/TV news/trivia threads today: SPACEBALLS 2---star/writer Josh Gad commented on the sequel to the 1987 STAR WARS spoof movie, “Without MGM taking me into their Culver prison cells, I can tell you that the draft is done. Everybody who’s read it has been blown away. The process of working on this with and alongside Mel Brooks has been one of the highlights of my career.” Gad added: “It was sort of a fever dream that this all happened. Mel has been so unbelievably supportive, involved, and electrified by this because it’s the one that surprisingly got away. It’s a dream to be able to finally make the reality prophesied by Yogurt in the first movie happen. I can’t say more than that. I can’t tell you anything beyond [the] process at this point, but I can tell you every hour of every day right now is spent making this project closer and closer to reality — and I think we’re nearing the end zone here.”

It occurred to me a bit back that the person who can give the music the liveliness, colors, and sound close to Morris, would be Craig Safan. Never going to happen, but that's who I would hire. Can't come up with another name! Everybody else is just a possible idea, might do a good job (like in my initial post).

John Scott (94) or Laurence Rosenthal (98), working with Mel Brooks (98). Hollywood needs some new blood.

Teaser trailer is funny, loved it! And nice to hear some John Morris music. I just checked it out. It WAS funny. Just by stating the plain truth it was funny. Remember in Time After Time when a movie house marquee for The Exorcist IV was a sight gag? And now The Exorcist franchise has expanded beyond parody? And how about that scene in Splash (1984) where the mermaid needs a name, so she looks around, sees a street sign, and says "Madison." That was a joke back then. Now, giving girls unfeminine names is such a relentless trend that Family Guy has a teenage girl named New Bedford. A lot of things that were once a joke have come true. Comedy can't keep up with a world taking jokes as marching orders.
