To those who asked if Basil Poledouris was any legendary for Varese people, now you have the answer...

So a single disc’s worth? I don’t have the time to total up the time at the moment…

Not familiar with the score, but I'm all in for a Poledouris expansion.

FAN-LOVING-TASTIC!

As with their Deluxe Edition of Kamen’s The Iron Giant, I wish they’d have just gone to 2CDs to include the unused cues/alternates which apparently exist… but I’m still ecstatic to be getting a super packed single CD. Poledouris expansions have become far too rare and infrequent.

Basil nailed the theme of regret here, particularly in the standout "The Decision." The original album, albeit short, was expertly constructed. I'm looking forward to this more with this expansion. And in general, more Poledouris, please!

Yep. This will be mine.
Nice to see some new Poledouris, even if it isn't a premiere release.
I haven't played the original edition in a while, but I remember it being very nice and romantic, with a big finish cue.
77 minutes worth should reveal some great new stuff to be enjoyed.
Let's hope Varese keep their sh!t together in the Quality Control Dept and this one sails out smoothly.

Haven't heard any new Poledouris in quite awhile - this will help. Great score, so happy it's getting an expansion.

When can we order this ? Is it a digital release only ? I do not see it on the Varesse website yet. One of the most beautiful heartfelt themes I have ever heard.

Cross-posting this question from thx99 in the general announcement thread since it's a good question and germane for the release-specific thread:

I'll be stoked if it's Poledouris' For Love of the Game!! And if it is, it will be interesting to see which version (or versions) of "Last Pitch" will be included. The versions featured on the Varese's commercial release, the Kraft-Engel promo, and the FYC CD release are all different, namely when it comes to the introduction of the choir. IIRC, the Kraft-Engel promo features the earliest entrance and it's glorious!!

Looks like only one version of the cue will be on this release.

Purchased the promo for good measure.

This is just a product page from a third party digital retailer. Varese hasn't officially announced this release yet. That will come Friday.

The 'unmentionable' runs about 68 minutes. So this is in the same ballpark.

Alas, the score never did much for me, but I will use this opportunity to reassess it (the OST, that is). Always great to get some Poledouris out there, no matter what.

The length of "Last Pitch" on this new Varese CD is 5:19, which is consistent with the length of the version on the Kraft-Engel promo (just over 5:18). The version on the original Varese score CD is 4:57.

There is "another" version out there that clocks in at 5:23 with a few additional seconds of lead-in compared to the 5:18/5:19 version, but as I recall, the choir enters a bit later in the 5:23 version (and even later in the 4:57 version).

So choir-wise, they picked the best version?
