I'm not familiar with the score, but I'm all in for a Basil expansion.

Poledouris is a favorite and a legend for sure. This is an excellent score, always loved it.
Incredibly varied work for a more personal, human drama with no robots, barbarians, submarine warfare or Steven Seagal. BP literally knocked it out of the park (someone had to say it!) and into the heavens (that chorus, Gran Dio!!).
This score has the same optimistic flare and a great theme that so many sports films of the 80s and 90s had (e.g. Hoosiers, Rudy, Field of Dreams and A League of their Own) but it also features a choir. I wonder if the full score has more of it?
I like this score because it's a strange one between director Sam Raimi and composer Basil Poledouris. Both of them were taking a different way because of their love for baseball and I think the result was a winner.
Please throw my baseball across the plate for a chance to win this great Poledouris soundtrack, For Love of the Game... Thanks!
You said "Write the main reason or reasons why you love this score"... Why?... BECAUSE IT'S BASIL, THAT'S WHY... 'Nuff said!
But seriously, "YES"... Basil Poledouris MOST CERTAINLY deserves to be called a "LEGEND"... I mean, so many classic scores, like... The Blue Lagoon, Conan the Barbarian, Red Dawn, Flesh & Blood, Cherry 2000, Robocop, The Hunt for Red October, Quigley Down Under, On Deadly Ground, Under Siege 2, Starship Troopers... etc., etc. ...I could go on and on... He has ALWAYS been one of my favorites for decades, and definitely holds a solid place on my list of "Top 10 Greatest Film Composers of All Time".
As I said, For Love of the Game, although not one of his most known scores, is a beautiful and entertaining work from Poledouris... It musically flows effortlessly from quiet and delicate, to funky and breezy, to soaring and triumphant... And it's a real TREAT! I have had the original CD since it first came out almost 25 years ago, and I have ALWAYS adored it... However, I have also always been VERY disappointed by the very SHORT length of the original CD itself... It was just a tad over 30 minutes long, if I recall correctly (Alas, the unfortunate fate of SO MANY cursed Varese Sarabande releases from back in the day!)... and I have ALWAYS hoped for an expanded release.... Well, here it is at last!
Again, thank you so much for this very kind opportunity... And good luck to all the participants.
Since I just won your last giveaway for HEAVY METAL, I will bow out of this one, but you are very generous for offering another contest. Best of luck to everyone who enters. Poledouris' score for this movie is gorgeous.
I can't say why I love it because I have never heard it...but I do love a lot of Basil's other scores and the suite someone posted above is lovely! It sounds like a fantastic score and one way or the other I will hear it all!
