"Journey to the Island" from JURASSIC PARK. For every which way you create these similarly-themed threads, A&C, the answer will aaaaaalways be JURASSIC PARK for me. Yes. I sense a theme, somehow.

Probably The Asteroid Field. Excellent call. One of mine deffo. However we ought to say 'other than opening themes/main titles.' Otherwise a lot of those are naturally going win. Clarification?

I make no such assumption. In my case, chances are that THE favorite will NOT be a main title, Jerry Goldsmith being a prime example for instance.

Believe it or not, I actually considered the idea of starting a Your favorite BARS of ALL TIME. Sometimes, part or parts of an exceptional cue are so magical that they deserve their own threads. However, that may seem a bit extreme considering that the next step would be to an appreciation thread delving in the subatomic or better yet, the graphic beauty of the music sheets, or....

Considering all the fantastic amazing cues done in the history of film scoring, picking one is like picking one favorite score -- it simply doesn't not exist and I have to question anybody who can say there is ONE favorite cue of all time.

The main title from Cosa Avete Fatto A Solange? Or Recovery from Conan, if it's a weekend. Good choices - they are all good choices - in point of fact. Listened to Solange earlier this week - FAB - and Conan, what can I say that hasn't already been uttered.

"Chinon--Eleanor's Arrival" from The Lion in Winter. The wordless chorus on Chinon is breathtaking--and that's just the beginning as Queen Eleanor arriving on a barge is accompanied by exquisite choral and orchestral writing. This cue--and the film's grim main title music over a montage of gargoyles--probably got Barry the Oscar, though the entire score was magnificent. David Hurwitz said on a youtube video that Barry told him that after hearing the score at the recording session, producer Joseph E. Levine took off his watch and gave it to Barry. Apparently, this was a custom back in the days when emperors and other royalty would remove a priceless piece of jewelry from their garb and present it to the opera's composer if they were so pleased.
