I tried watching Wonder Woman 1984 when it was on television, but couldn't get far, turned it off after 20 minutes or so. Maybe I'll have to check the score some time...

I've probably watched WW84 ten times! Not because the movie is so good (I actually dont hate it at all!) but because I like the score so much and I love "watching" the score. Like watching a music video, lol

Funny enough, I still have never seen the movie itself! But I do love that WW84 album!

Oh I often go back to movies with scores I love. In case of WW84, Ive seen the whole film so many times because I like ALL the score from it. And there's plenty! But I also often go back to movies just to watch certain scenes with cues I love. It gives the score extra meaning to me knowing the reason for why it sounds like it does. smile

Fine scoring, both diagetic and underscore. It ramps up the suspense just right.

This movie has just the right bits of horror to make it stick in your mind.

I'm going to watch this film this weekend and am looking forward to it. The concept of the Blitz through the eyes of a child alone and seeking the safety of his mother's arms tugged at this mother's heart. The other film that came to my mind is Boorman's Hope and Glory which I also found to be very good.

I sat and listened to the score on YouTube but watching the film will put it in perspective. Young Elliott Heffernan appears to be quite a talented young actor.

I think he's been putting out some good scores lately, including THE CREATOR, which is the best thing he's written since INTERSTELLAR.

Which shows… lots of scores, aye? Not a particular Zimmer fan, Dune in the film has some big potential, aside from it and just for pure listening pleasure… not really.

I do not know who David Fleming and Steve Mazzaro are but wonder woman 1984 is not a score typical of Zimmer. It is not his way of writing. He probably didnot work that much for that score. The same goes for The Creator. Of course nothing beats the amazing spiderman score with The magnificent six.

Not sure what you mean not typical of Zimmer. If you are a fan of Zimmer, you will notice a tons of Zimmer mannerism in that score. And he literally said that he wrote Themyscira on social media (that cue has heavy influence from First Born and Angels and Demons). Same for The Creator as well. The Last Samurai, interstellar clearly influenced that score.

When people say this score is not typical of Zimmer, they don't even know what they are talking about. Zimmer has done The Lion King and Dunkirk and everything in between.

I think Zimmer worked quite a lot on WW84 actually. He even released a sketchbook album for it with his ideas.

Yes, and with his score to Dunkirk he almost destroyed a pretty darn good movie. frown

Nah, it lifted it. Not something I like to listen to alone, though (outside that gorgeous, Vangelis-like rendition of Elgar that Wallfisch did). Remains to be seen if BLITZ is another example like this, i.e. working better in the film than on album.

Oh, Supermarine is one of my favorite Zimmer tracks! wink
