Guaraldi's "Oh Good Grief" album also has some great themes, but is less faithful to the originals (lots of electric harpsichord). I enjoy it, but not as much.

I had forgotten about this album. I have an unaccountable fondness for the electric harpsichord - and I really enjoy the riffing on the themes. Works so well for this music. And I enjoy the Lost albums too, for all their limitations and curious arrangement.

But it's just wonderful to have these expanded releases. I was disappointed for many years at the dearth of albums showcasing Guaraldi's unique voice in film/tv music. Never really expected so much to come out.

I too find the electric harpsichord on "Oh Good Grief" particularly hypnotic! It's different, but in a very satisfying way IMO.

I've listened to this twice already! So much fun. The electric instruments and variety of musical styles (even a bit of light funk) really set it apart from the earlier holiday-inspired standards (Christmas, Thanksgiving, Halloween).

I really hope they continue digging up scores from these more obscure Peanuts films, including one of my childhood favorites, the 1980 full-length feature Bon Voyage, Charlie Brown (and Don't Come Back!), where the gang travels to France as exchange students. The excellent (partly orchestral) score is by Ed Bogas and Judy Munsen.

Love this album. Beautiful warm sound again.

Joe Cool, back in school,
Hangin' ’round the water fountain, playin' the fool.
Joe Cool, take it light,
If the principal catches you, you're out of sight.

I think this one may be the best one yet (other than the Christmas album, obviously). There's some lovely blues- funk on this album, just sublime. These Charlie Brown discs are the gift that keeps on giving.

Agree. There’s just never been anyone like Vince.

I recently discovered his Impressions of a Black Orpheus album and it’s been on endless rotation all year.

Yep, I agree. This one was a total surprise. They captured something really breezy and cool with this ensemble and recording.
