Sorry, but this reminds me of a Norm MacDonald "the fake news" joke on SNL. This is pretty close to being verbatim without looking it up: Erik and Lyle Menendez are back in the news this week. The two claimed they shot-gunned their parents over ten times to death because they claimed they possessed super natural powers. Though, looking back on it they admit they were … they were probably wrong.

Well, film scoring is a Newman Family Business, after all, and the next generation is now taking over. Ford A. Thaxton

I just had a listen to it, and as I expected, it's a very minor work. I didn't expect it to be among his better or more substantial works (I expected it to be similar to his The Little Things score - which I actually quite liked, this one less so), and it certainly wasn't. I expect far more from his solo work, like the upcoming White Bird score, even if I don't think that will be a masterpiece or anything truly special either (the movie certainly doesn't seem to be of that kind what would inspire something extraordinary), but hopefully White Bird will be at least a pleasant new entry in the Newman catalogue. This effort wasn't much, and it will probably only be of interest to hardcore Newman fans, especially those who enjoy his more ambient, textural, low-key scores.
