This gives me hope for part 1. Do you love the score for the first film? With all my heart. Seriously though, yes. I’ve adored that score since the 80s and even reached out to the composer of the Trioxin theme who seemed baffled that his music was still popular among fans of the film. I understand there were multiple composers and the post production was a little hectic with the main theme being an apparent last minute addition. Some of the score even turns up in the trailer for Bladerunner which was released years earlier which indicates that these were some type of stock library music. Me too on the Trioxin theme. Leaving that off the album is like leaving Axel F off of the Beverly Hills Cop album. Only that main theme is all that was needed to satisfy.

There is a Japanese vinyl of ROTLD 1 that has the Trioxin theme sans sound efx, albeit in mono. I picked it up a month ago, thought it was a boot, but apparently legit. Songs are out of order, includes some score and a couple added songs. Will expand on this comment if anyone is interest (i.e. get off my ass, walk 25 ft. and pull the record!). Hi Goblin Score, I'd be very interested in this version. Can you post some info? So far, I've only seen this one on Discogs: https://www.discogs.com/release/21200665-Various-The-Return-Of-The-Living-Dead-Original-Motion-Picture-Soundtrack A guy on YouTube ripped the score, with partly good sound quality. Yet another guy did a Trioxin theme megamix out of the various film versions and I myself added an intro to it some time ago. People get creative when nothing is released . Very best, Burnie

It’s a pity, as usual, that there is no CD, but it’s obvious that these things don’t sell well there and they don’t want to bother with them... Terror Vision is such a bizarre wart on my ass as far as scores go. I've got zero interest in most of what they release, but they were the ones to finally put out music from Unsolved Mysteries, first in a three-LP set, then a second volume of 2 LPs. I don't buy LPs anymore, so I was thrilled when they finally released an Unsolved Mysteries CD. That is, until I put it in and saw that the total runtime was 45 minutes. Really, guys? The shortest release you put out for the show is two LPs and the CD release is 45 minutes? It's as if they just did it as a sort of "fine then; HERE!" kind of release. They must truly despise anyone who isn't listening to vinyl. I can't stand this hipster trend and I hate that they can't see that if they did it right (and collaborated with another label who does CDs if they can't be bothered) it would be worthwhile. Look at the business models of our favorite labels. And then you have Terror Vision that seems to sabotage their CD releases. It's not a CD issue, people. It's how you're doing it.

This label definitely has weird policies. It’s not clear what they are targeting... At one time I even thought that for the most part their client base was people who simply love vinyl or cassettes, and all this is connected with HORROR. And it doesn’t matter who the composer is, what style... I, in fact, just like you, am not particularly interested in what they generally release. But over the past year they have released 2 scores that I really wanted. It's so strange to release a PREMIERE score only on LP and cassette. If you don't want CD, why not at least release it in digital format? This is music that first saw the light of day... Apparently they don't care about the wishes of other potential clients. After all, regular customers will buy it, and the business will benefit. I would never buy cassettes in my life, but since there is no way to get it any other way... I had to buy it. Because for me these scores are worth it. So from I bought a cassette for 13 dollars and I had to pay for postage 24 dollars (LOL!) - this is 2 times more than the product itself... I am aware that postal services have become more expensive... But this would be normal if If it were a CD, at least you could read the composer's annotations, there would be some information, etc. By the way, I wrote to this label more than once about the possibility of at least digital downloading, but as always, they come up with different excuses every time... In general, I was doubly surprised that they managed to release this score, since the film belongs to Warner... Robinson probably had a decisive say in this score. By the way, I also repeatedly wrote to such a label as HOWLIN' WOLF RECORDS about similar genres of scores, but my messages either did not reach them, or they, as often happens, ignored. This label seems like an ideal candidate for this and similar things. They make releases very quality and creatively.

There are licensing restrictions that explain why certain scores get vinyl-only releases. It’s not a conspiracy to screw over customers. A label can’t just release music however they see fit. If it’s easier to license vinyl and there is a healthy niche market for the product, that’s what a boutique company is going to do.

Very best, Burnie Hi Burnie! Here's the Japanese vinyl I referenced. I'll try to give it a spin tonight to check if the Matt Clifford cues are just taken from the film. They are brief, mono I seem to recall, but I don't recall dialogue. I grew up with the Enigma album, so this one was too odd to pass over. Thank You for the info! Cheers! -Sean

Some of Robinson's pop/rock-based scores are really good.
