I've been listening to as much Ikeno as I can (which is not much unfortunately). I just got a 3 disc set of his concert works from Ark Square. I discovered via Google that an older 4 disc set of some of his film music but it doesn't appear on any searches on the internet for re sellers. Anyone know of this set and if it's available anywhere? I love his style. Very much inspired by Bartok and mid 20th century composers. Quite modernist especially his Yokai Spook Warfare score which I got recently as well (1 disc featuring that score and another one).

I expect you have Secret of the Telegian - the 2nd disc in the 3-CD set with H-Man & The Human Vapor. Regarding that out-of-print 4-CD set on vintage Ikeno film music, I can be of no help at all I'm sorry to say. I, as well, have never located any used copies in the secondary market. My only other input, none-too-helpful at that, is that Sei Ikeno's genre scores remind me most of all of British horror flicks. To me, Ikeno was very contemporaneous with Tristram Cary, Gerard Schurmann, Elisabeth Lutyens, Don Banks, etc. Honestly, I don't hear Bartok in Ikeno's music ... but I do hear parallels with modernistic British composers.

Some of his concert works evoke both Bartok and Stravinsky actually. I do hear parallels with Humphrey Searle’s work (The Haunting especially) so the whole British modernism thing is a good observation. I only have his Yokai score as I’m new to his music. Would love to acquire more scores of his.

I too I'm limited to Secret of the Telegian, Yokai - SET and a handful of tracks on the 50th Anniversary Godzilla Soundtrack Perfect Collection Box 1 apparently.

according to the posting history, there have been contributions to this thread by a "cultasiansoundtracks" member - but I do not see these in the thread. Why are these posts not visible?

I was wondering the very same thing until I recalled that new members have a quarantine period of which I can't recall the duration. Edit. I did check out his YouTube channel though.

I had thought the same thing. I know their YT channel and have enjoyed the Ikeno scores they have posted. Would be nice to get their input on the forum about this underrated composer.

Sorry for the earlier double post I did not know there was a "quarentine" period and thought I did something wrong so I posted the same thing twice. Anyways, glad to be here! My fave Sei Ikeno score is "Yokai Daisenso." So much so, I have all three versions of it on CD (The two Salida versions: the aforementioned 001-004 and 007 as well as the awesome Cinema-kan "Yokai Trilogy" set) and also the "Monster Box" which has a cool suite of music from the film. I've been meaning to upload some the tracks from "Red Angel" from the Sei Ikeno "Works from Film" (DESL 001-004) to my Youtube page, but have not gotten around to it yet. - Eric

But I kinda want to know. I love Yokai both film and score. Spook Warfare is an amazing (weird) film but I dig it.
