I only have MAD MAX, THE ROAD WARRIOR, SKY PIRATES and THE BRIAN MAY FANTASY FILM MUSIC COLLECTION, what am I missing that should be in my collection?

ROAD GAMES - 1981

Starring Stacey Keach, Jamie Lee Curtis and a dingo. Richard Franklin directs.

Sort of like RAVEL on the outback with some HOLST thrown in for good measure. Insanely catchy theme.

If you already have Harlequin, then I say you should get Thirst and the complete Patrick.
These are my 3 faves, but anything he wrote during the late '70s and early '80s should not disappoint.
I'd say Return to Eden from the mid-'80s continues his 1980 zenith, but early '90s efforts can be hit-or-miss.
Your mileage may vary with Dr. Giggles or Bloodmoon or the final chapter of Freddy.

My favorites are Return To Eden and Cloak & Dagger. Both are prime 80s Brian May. Wonderfully melodic but also filled with his great dramatic action pieces.

I'd also recommend The Quest (aka Frog Dreaming) and Missing In Action 2

Cloak and Dagger, easily. It’s light, playful, melodic.

Pretty much what A&C says above.
ROADGAMES is great stuff, and the film is quite nifty too.

I'd buy a re-release of Road Games in a heartbeat !

I love Brian May's action/adventure output. Like some other composers like Goldsmith and Silvestri he knew how to use snares in a very effective (and addictive) way. His brass writing is quite noticeable too.

As mentioned by other posters above, if you like Sky Pirates you should definitely check out Race for the Yankee Zephir (some cues are clearly inspired by Elmer Bernstein's The Great Escape, a nod to Donald Pleasence ?), Missing in Action 2 (my favorite score of the series, richer in its orchestral and thematic writing and quite goldsmithian), The Quest, Cloak and Dagger, Death Before Dishonor.
I even like Turkey Shoot, with its vintage synth and weird tonal shifts.

I also like his more sinister scores a lot. They've been mentioned already but Patrick, Harlequin and Thirst (influenced by The Omen with an evil -albeit small- choir) are worth checking out.

I am less fond of his later scores like Dr Giggles, Bloodmoon and Freddy's Dead, there's a different flavor to them. But I appreciate them nonetheless.

Would love to see Road Games get a proper release. I wonder if Dragon’s Domain is working on it.

Mad Max and Road Warrior are my favorites, but I agree Roadgames is up there too. I adore most of his scores, although I totally agree with Edern's statement about his last 3 released horror outings.

Death Before Dishonor, Thirst, and Yankee Zephyr would probably be my next-in-line recommendations.

Looks like it's going to be a Brian May playlist day!

The miniseries version of the theme got a Swedish single release. Sadly it wasn't on the BSX/Varese Sarabande rrelease/reissue (which the album for the spinoff TV series).

The Roadgames/Patrick double-header is ESSENTIAL!

Now if only Steel Dawn could get released that would be great!

I see that someone snagged the NM/NM copy that was available when I posted that link yesterday. You won't regret it!

Easy to spot Ravel inspiration...

And the ending cues - in the film - quote Holst, as A&C notes above.

All great stuff though.

Did Henry see this? https://filmscoremonthly.com/board/posts.cfm?threadID=157876&forumID=1&archive=0

Road Games & Bloodmoon are getting released onto Dragon's Domain.

Ford Thaxton even posted in this thread on September 2 and did not offer any inkling about Road Games in their pipeline in less than a month since this thread was created.
