Sounds like another interesting one from BSX, although I'll need to check out the samples before hitting the button on this one (the previous Immel release is still in my basket at Intrada...waiting for check-out).
Great cover artwork too.
I love the 'complete surprise' element of these BSX releases, surely the most intriguing/exciting score label about at the moment.

Enjoyed the samples for the Immel instrumental arrangements, but aside from the track Lonely/Love Theme, I wasn't really taken by the score.

This was one that Mr. Immel really wanted to see the light of day. Mike Joffe did a great job putting this one together for BSX,

I hope you enjoy this and DEATH HUNT

DEATH HUNT completely blew me away. So much so that I immediately checked the film out. Superbly spotted, brilliantly scored, a proper gem from the era.

This is a very different side of Jerold Immel, it's very gentle and romantic and a bit of a list treasure.

There are a few other things we're looking into at this time.

Has anyone had the time to pop this in and give it a spin yet?

Just wondering

This is well worth your time if you like 70s styled rural Americana, pure and simple (albeit from 1981).
Tuneful, lyrical and evocative, in that JEREMIAH JOHNSON folk style at times, swelling to more 'Great Outdoors' music and sinister suspense moments at others.
I love this style and period of scoring and BSX are really aiming their darts around this part of the board and hitting the Bulls Eye time and time again.
There's an early Broughton vibe to the music and it's interesting to note that he and Immel worked together on various shows during the 70s and 80s.
The suspense and tension moments certainly had BB in my mind on a few occasions.
Another fantastic release from BSX/DD and highly recommended from me (I picked it up with a bag full of other goodies during their recent 40% off sale and I'm having a blast playing through them)*

* they even added some titles to my order FOC which was both a nice surprise and utter delight.

Track 10/Across The Snow & John's Cabin is pure wintry Christmas magic, SOOOOO evocative of snow and chill and all that vibe.
Great orchestration. Just brilliant!

Here's the Neil Young song, the melody of which appears a few times in this score, via some wonderful Jerrold Immel orchestrations...

Have I mentioned how great this score/CD is?
I think JEREMIAH JOHNSON may have been in the temp, certainly for the End Credits.

And here's a Medley...

To quote that Great Spanish Peacock...

I didn't buy dat CD, but I'll have a listen to the suite after lunch and the pee ehm shift. Reporting back at some point in the future!

Sounds good! I don't have JEREMIAH JOHNSON, but I "know what it sounds like", and this sounds like that. Another thing, in that suite - after the 3-min mark - it was more like Michael Small than the End Credits of DEATH HUNT are, specifically the opening credits of COMES A HORSEMAN with that jaunty barn dance rhythm and authentic old fiddles.

I don't think I'm convinced enough yet to buy it. I have the new Mellé and Broughton on order from BSX plus other things from other places. It's sometimes perplexing to realise that as my collection now grows exponentially, my life shortens inponentially.

The movie has fallen through the cracks over time... It came out on VHS but hasn't ever really gotten a proper DVD or BD release. But you can watch it on YouTube, which helps give the music some more context. It's worth a look.
