Reginald M. Jones, Jr. THE MYSTERY OF THE MASKED MAN'S MUSIC. Scarecrow Press. Lanham, Maryland. 2001.(First pub.1987) 219 pp.
(The Search for the Music Used on the Lone Ranger Radio Program)

I can recommend this Amazon print-on-demand edition. It sells for under $10.00 . Arrives in 2 days. And I read it in 2 days. I found it very enjoyable.
It's a compelling read of the early days of Republic Film Studios and its composers and its music department.
The early days of ASCAP union turmoil, and the effect of music on a segment of radio listeners and tv viewers.
There are numerous musical examples, and photographs of The Republic composers such as William Lava, Cy Feuer, Karl Hajos, Alberto Colombo, et al.

Although the title would indicate music used on the radio, that music was licensed from the early Republic pictures and was then used on the television program.

Yes, excellent book. I was also lucky several years ago to pick up a complete set of disc tracks from the series, including the re-recorded classical and Republic cues. The classical cues were also used on CHALLENGE OF THE YUKON and THE GREEN HORNET.

Martin Grams finally released volume two of the LONE RANGER RADIO YEARS. Lots of amazing info.

And if you're a real RANGER radio fan, be sure and check out this great industrial short from 1938. It features the Lone Ranger stock company: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0TPNd08Xt-4
