Just one, you ask? Near impossible to narrow down, perhaps. Are you up to the challenge? Maybe if we exclude Star Trek and Alien. I would say CAPRICORN ONE, but one could say The Final Conflict, The Boys from Brazil, Damnation Alley, The Great Train Robbery, Magic, Coma, The Omen... etc. Which one would you chose?

If we go by the film’s release date rather than score recording date… I think my most played Goldsmith score of this era (even including TMP and Alien) is probably High Velocity. I may be the only person to mention that generally-overlooked gem in this thread, so I’m mentioning it. I love the melodic use of tuned percussion, including cimbalom. I love the harsh low brass action writing. I love the Hispanic flavor! Just an awesome listen all around and it plays even better re-arranged into chronological form. Yavar

Seeing as someone usually fu*ks these lists up let me do it. He didn't write shite during the period. So thread is redundant.

The assignment is to find only one? Too difficult… but I would agree on STAR TREK-TMP.

Excluding Star Trek and Alien implies that all other selections are third place, so no thanks to that. I'll say The Great Train Robbery. Period. Full stop.

Which one would you chose? Any. The right answer is "any". Any score picked from this time period I can agree with.

But okay, I try to be up for the game... Excluding ALIEN and STAR TREK - THE MOTION PICTURE, which would indeed be my top choices, I would pick.... LOGAN’S RUN.

SCOTT Agreed. I deliberatly stopped at 81 because adding 82 would have made it a truly impossible conundrum...

Hah, yeah... 1982 is certainly a strong contender for greatest single year of Goldsmith output. Yavar

Hah, yeah... 1982 is certainly a strong contender for greatest single year of Goldsmith output. Yavar I'd have to go with 1978. Capricorn One, The Boys From Brazil, The Swarm, Magic and Damien- Omen II. SCOTT
