Maybe the "We Hear You" idea will return as well. Though the label has been pretty deaf in the recent years.

I gotta say, I welcome this development. As a fan of expanded scores, the Encore Series used to be something of a bummer for me... it used to mean, "this score will probably never be expanded": A decade+ ago, the Encore Edition of Rozsa's Eye of the Needle meant that they were probably never going to release the Royal Philharmonic film recording. (Thankfully, this finally got done a few months ago.) The Encore Editions of Elmer Bernstein's Spies Like Us, John Scott's Man on Fire, John Barry's Jagged Edge, Michael Kamen's Suspect, Georges Delerue's A Show of Force, or Jerry Goldsmith's Raggedy Man meant: "this is all you're gonna get". But now that the Encore Editions are specifically coming back for out of print Deluxe Editions (I know they used to do this very occasionally in the past, as with Goldsmith's Runaway), it means I won't have that feeling of disappointment any more, that a title isn't going to be expanded. It'll only be a feeling of happiness that a previous expansion is available again for those who missed out on it. Yavar

Will it be mixed better than the previous version I wonder. Or just... exactly the same? A good question. While they've never featured previously unreleased music, Encore Editions in the past have sometimes featured new mastering (sometimes for the better, but occasionally to a score's detriment, TBH) and I also really appreciated with Encores took a title like Michael Kamen's Suspect and split it into individual cues for the first time, rather than going with the two tracks on the previous CD (corresponding to two sides of the LP). NO FIX = NO SALE I'm sure they'd still sell quite a few copies to people who missed the previous Starship Troopers DE. But yeah, I personally wouldn't re-buy it if it were just the same master again, obviously. According to Varese via facebook: To clarify, it's a FUN score, it's not from a FUNNY film. At least not one that's intentionally funny. My new guess is Under Siege 2, since Varese has also now ruled out Starship Troopers on FB. (And even if they hadn't stated that explicitly, I think Starship Troopers is intentionally funny for sure.) I hope they can bring back Jarre's THE BRIDE They already did an Encore edition of that one. Actually it wasn't labeled or marketed as such, even though it was a straight reissue of their original LP program. It also wouldn't qualify for this new approach because it never received an expanded Deluxe Edition from them. I personally would love a new Deluxe Edition of this wonderful orchestral score, sourced from the pristine multitracks in the possessions of James Fitzpatrick. I realize that there might not be more than a few more minutes of previously unreleased music that could be added to the original album program, however. Yavar
