We don't do many sales, but here's one that should help you fill in some gaps in your MMM collection.

Some really terrific titles in that MMM catalogue. I nearly wish I didn't have them all aready so I could take advantage of the special offer! But, maybe there are some new titles up ahead getting ready for blast-off!?

The re-recordings that MMM has done with conductor Masatoshi Mitsumoto are amongst my favourites of any re-recordings ever! Reading the online reviews, I'm tempted to seek out some of those original Nicholas Carras soundtracks now.

I have heard the recording MMM did for THIS ISLAND EARTH, and it's fantastic! (I loved this movie since I was a kid and audio taped it of the TV.)

In fact, I'm quite amazed this wonderful recording of a relatively obscure film score was made, and it turned out excellent.

I'd think I should take advantage of the sale and pick up some of these, though I'm afraid I don't readily see on the page which orchestra and conductor is performing which music.

Nic, the re-recordings are all under the baton of Masatoshi Mitsumoto, on some conducting the Radio Symphony Orchestra of Cracow, and on others the Radio Symphony of Slovakia. I think the names may have changed over the years, in fact the Cracow orchestra doesn't seem to exist today, at least not under that name.

I have the one you mention (THIS ISLAND EARTH plus THE DAY OF THE TRIFFIDS), also "Monstrous Movie Music" (THEM!, IT CAME FROM OUTER SPACE...), "More Monstrous Movie Music" (THE BEAST FROM 20,000 FATHOMS, TARANTULA, GORGO...) and CREATURE FROM THE BLACK LAGOON (includes THE ALLIGATOR PEOPLE). The only re-recording I'm missing is the one that showcases MIGHTY JOE YOUNG.

If you were impressed with THIS ISLAND EARTH, you'll be happy with the others I'm sure.

If I'm not wrong, Ron Goodwin's The Day Of The Triffids recording was conducted by Kathleen Mayne with the Radio Symphony Orchestra Of Slovakia. The conductor in all the other re-recordings was Mr. Mitsumoto.

Thanks for the very kind words. Yes, Kathleen Mayne conducted THE DAY OF THE TRIFFIDS as well as some other cues sprinkled throughout our other re-recordings. As with Masatoshi Mitsumoto, she did a masterful job! She also handled all the orchestral reconstructions on our recordings.

Thanks so much. That just illustrates that nobody here has a social life. We just sit around and wait for orders.

I'm writing today to address a personal matter, and I apologize for using this public forum for this purpose. However, I felt it was the best way to reach out to David Schecter of Monstrous Movie Music, as I've been having some difficulty with our email communications.

David, I am Álvaro, and I hope you are reading this. I answered your recent emails but I have a feeling that my replies to you may have been getting caught in your spam folder, as I haven't received a response from you. I wanted to let you know that you can create the shipping label without the suite number. As long as my full name is legible and matches the information in the warehouse system, the staff can deliver it to the correct suite.

Sorry for using this forum for a personal matter, but I couldn't think of another way to contact David. Thank you for your understanding.

Also, I wanted to recommend that everyone take advantage of the special offer on the Monstrous Movie Music website. It's a great chance to add some amazing soundtracks to your collection.

I'm definitely interested in more Masatoshi Mitsumoto recordings of these classic film scores; just have to find the time to go through the site to choose and pick.

Thanks for writing! I haven't gotten any of your emails, and I don't have spam. So who knows what's going on? Smart of you to post on here. Will get your package out in an hour! I'll also hand-write your suite on the printed Stamps.com postage. Hope you enjoy, and sorry for the mess-up. Maybe your email server has trouble with Earthlink.net? Whatever the cause, it's weird, but you figured out a good way to get in touch! -- David

I'm definitely interested in more Masatoshi Mitsumoto recordings of these classic film scores; just have to find the time to go through the site to choose and pick.

I have all four of them and they are great. Very faithful to the the originals but in modern clean sound.

There are five of them:

Monstrous Movie Music
More Monstrous Movie Music
Creature From the Black Lagoon (and other jungle pictures)
Mighty Joe Young (and other Ray Harryhausen animation classics)
This Island Earth (and other alien invasion films)

Which ones?

Which ones?

No choice. All the above mentioned titles are consistently top shelf excellence. Schecter's in depth notes alone, are worth admission. The performances are spot on, to the OG small orchestra layouts, yet punchy and perfectly handled. Hearing a possibly, quickly dashed score for 35 players, boosted to 58 players, time afforded to correct mistakes, perfect intonation....it's all just gloriously, respectful handling, every single MMM album.

I don't mean to shill, but every MMM tecording is a must have, and albums I play often years later, especially this time of year.

Nice, peripherally knowing your leanings, at thus discount, please take a chance on this catalogue.
They are not only labors of love, but endlessly entertaing symphonic horror recordings that are simply iconic.
