Tonight, I watched rhe semi-effective, typically colourful Universal TV movie, Fear No Evil, from 1969. You may recall that the film stars Louis Jourdan as the cool, suave, handsome, unflappably rational psychiatrist Dr David Sorrell, doctor to the bedevilled; and Bradford Dillman and Lynda Day George as the husband and wife bedevilled by an antique mirror. Directed by Paul Wendkos, known for The Mephisto Waltz and Btotherhood of the Bell, the film is rich in his distinctive use of disorienting and disturbing camera work. It's a stylish piece of feature-length television even if it is not a slam-dunk effective story. I liked Billy Goldenberg's score very much. Very much indeed. It predates Jerry Goldsmith's especially effective Mephisto Waltz score, but is evocative of it in parts. It also evokes Goldenberg's excellent work on shows like Columbo. I would very much like to be able to get this score on disc, if the pure music recording still exists. Could it be a possible for release? Has it ever been looked into? Who's seen it? What do you think? Cheers
