THE DAMNED---trailer released for the horror movie.

JACK RYAN---Amazon Prime sequel movie underway to the spy tv series starring John Krasinski. Co-stars Wendell Pierce and Michael Kelly are in negotiations to also return.

QUENTIN TARANTINO---Quentin Tarantino said he will not watch Denis Villeneuve's DUNE or other movie remakes, “I saw [David Lynch’s] DUNE a couple of times. I don’t need to see that story again. I don’t need to see spice worms. I don’t need to see a movie that says the word ‘Spice’ so dramatically.”
He added, “It’s one after another of this remake, and that remake. People ask ‘Have you seen DUNE?’ ‘Have you seen RIPLEY?’ ‘Have you seen SHOGUN?’ And I’m like “no, no, no, no.” There’s six or seven Ripley books. If you do one again, why are you doing the same one that they’ve done twice already? I’ve seen that story twice before, and I didn’t really like it in either version, so I’m not really interested in seeing it a third time. If you did another story, that would be interesting enough to give it a shot anyway...I saw SHOGUN in the ‘80s. I watched all 13 hours. I’m good. I don’t need to see that story again, I don’t care how they do it. I don’t care if they take me and put me in ancient Japan in a time machine. I don’t care, I’ve seen the story.”

HAMMER DOWN---Idris Elba will star in the movie whose synopsis says, “Mac (Elba) is the best at what he does, driving a big rig truck across the country with a ‘no questions asked’ policy about the goods he transports. When he takes his tenacious teenage daughter along for a job, they are tracked and attacked by a relentless group of criminals that will stop at nothing to secure the consignment he has been entrusted to deliver. Pursued by merciless killers and with the police hot on their trail, Mac and his daughter must work together to prevent the cargo falling into dangerous hands and survive to live another day.”

LANTERNS---Kelly MacDonald will play Sheriff Kerry in the HBO/DC Studios superhero tv series that also stars Kyle Chandler.

THE WILD ROBOT---author Peter Brown commented on the possibility of an sequel, “Yeah, there are three books, and who knows if all three or two or who knows how many more movies will be made. It’s not official just yet. We’re hoping there’ll be at least a sequel. There’s a second book called THE WILD ROBOT ESCAPES, which I know Chris [director Chris Sanders] and Jeff [producer Jeff Herman] have read and loved. I feel like the two first books in the series really are one big story. So I think they’re really hoping to get the green light to make that happen. But we’ll see, we’ll see. I don’t know. I don’t wanna get ahead of myself, but I’m cautiously optimistic that there will be a sequel, and I know a lot of us are hoping that’ll happen.”

TOMB RAIDER---Sophie Turner (GAME OF THRONES) and Lucy Boynton (BOHEMIAN RHAPSODY) are testing for the Amazon Prime tv series.

THE PLAYERS---John C. Reilly and Steve Coogan will star in the Shakespeare comedy movie based on the rivalry between Edwin Forrest and William MacReady.

EMILY THE STRANGE---Warner Bros. Animation/Bad Robot movie underway based on the graphic novel character.

OUTLAST---horror movie underway based on the video game.

I wouldn’t class myself as a big horror fan, but I’ve seem almost half of those. Interesting to see some of them actually classed in that genre - but good for them for being open-minded.

No 31 threw me, though, at first. He’s snarky to his little sister sometimes, and generally quite annoying, but how anyone can find the adventures of a stop-motion penguin horrific I’m not too sure.

I've seen most of them. Missing a few of those 20s/30s films.

I'm THRILLED that EVENT HORIZON is on there, an unheralded masterpiece, and one of my favourite films of the entire 90s.

But disappointed that they found no room for THE GRUDGE, which IMO is much scarier and well-done than its cousin RINGU (which IS on there).

Black Dove looks good.

I have seen a lot of horror or scary movies. My number one would be ALIEN followed by PSYCO and JAWS.

Very US centric list. Missing some of the best euro horrors of the last 20 years such as Martyrs and Haute Tension.

I don't think much of Tarantino. He's not saying anything nobody has said before.

Simple answer is, if you like an existing version of something, then fine, stick with it. Nobody is making you watch a different version.

I've seen 3 versions of Dune. And read the original books. Each has their own valid creative ideas. If I thought Lynch's was perfect, I wouldn't have bothered with the others

And Tarantino recently praised A Fistful of Dollars as one of cinema's masterpieces and that film is of course a remake. I wonder why he ever bothered to see it. And why would you watch The Maltese Falcon when there was already the one with Ricardo Cortez? Or the American remake of the Gernan remake of the French film Fanfare d'Amour? It's called Some Like It Hot.

They could make more room, by sweeping the movies that obviously aren't horror. King Kong?? That made me lol.

Gremlins isn't horror, either. May as well add The Monster Squad, right?

King Kong and Gremlins are debatable. Kong was terrifying to 1933 audiences. Scenes of people being eaten were edited out of the later prints. It certainly packed more frights into it than Karloff's The Mummy, which was mostly atmospheric.

Gremlins is a horror/comedy, which also scared audiences. Comparing it to The Monster Squad isn't really a fair fight.

Wicker Man seems along way down the list. Seriously creepy film.
Good to see Audition at 7. Man, that's gory.

I wouldn't really count either SALO or IRREVERSIBLE as horror films. Horrible, yes, but not horror, even by the most elastic of definitions.

These lists seem like something AI actually could manage to imitate, and you wouldn't be able to tell the difference.

Yeah if a Horror movie is defined by "bad vibes" might as well add war movies.

No "Misery" on that list?

A movie about a giant ape in the jungle is SF by default. The Mummy is a horror film.

Nobody was scared by that flick!
