It's a surprise that James Horner didn't score this film, after working with Ed Zwick on GLORY in '89 and again on LEGENDS OF THE FALL in '94 (this film was sandwiched in between). Probably a schedule problem? Anyway, it went to Snuffy, who had worked with Zwick on the TV series thirtysomething. It's really nice. Homespun/Folk/Americana, I would label it. Lots of acoustic guitar, piano and rhythm section with nice orchestral backing, typical of the composer. One can hear some Bruce Hornsby and Dave Grusin/David Foster riffs, that may have been from the temp-track. Never released officially, although a promo/boot did surface, containing 27 tracks/48 minutes, in great sound. I've always liked Snuffy's stuff, ever since hearing his lovely music in THE WONDER YEARS TV series, and I have all the CD's that have been released by him (a couple of nice compilations, like 'Music By...' and the 'thirtysomething' album are well worth checking out). Any other fans out there?

Intimate score with some delicate material and some material with a drumkit. Good score, should be released.

By the way, I might as well say it now since it's dropping this month, but this is a score I have been creating a special edited, arranged, crossfaded suite for. I actually had it, but due to a bonehead saving issue on my end, I lost it and am having to re-create it. But it's well worth the wait. Actually working on it now -- this sudden coincidental thread prompted me to get back to it.
