It is great that all the clips are around 1.5 seconds, what an exhausting trailer.
That looks like it cost half a billion dollars, and the response to the last one was tepid.
I wonder if very many people even care about MI anymore. It looks like a stretch for this to ever pay the bills in the end.

The last movie was an exceptional action flick but ruined slightly by the fact that the big stunt - Tom skydiving from his motorbike - had been shown almost in its entirety in so much ore-release material that it became a non-event.

The preview for this one looks like they’ve learned their lesson and kept it lean and mean.

It looks terrific. I can’t wait.

Cruise reaching the "to old" to be an action star. But I guess he'll be doing it until he's 82 like Ford.

I tend to agree.
And the range of his acting chops came and went with "All The Right Moves".

Eh - he’s doing what he likes to do best - make an action movie that shows a lot of him running and where he gets to do one (or maybe 2) really cool stunts.

While I will always rate the first Mission:Impossible as the best one, I did like the teaser for this one. Dead Reckoning felt a little soulless and this (I know it’s only a teaser) felt like they were aiming for a little more heart.

It has been progessively harder to get really...involved.... the M:I movies as they have increasingly become set pieces with bits inbetween to set up the next set piece. You know that there is nothing truly at stake. You know the good guys will win. You know they will all live.

There was something in this trailer that made me feel that there may be a little more weight to this one. Some real stakes....yet that’s what a trailer is meant to do, isn’t it?

Anyway - in short - I liked it.

The last one that had any real fun to it was the Brad Bird directed Ghost Protocol

McQuarrie take himself a bit too seriously

An actor his age should have a "desk job". Actors used to take roles that match their age as their careers progressed.
I find these 60, 70, 80 year old action stars ridiculous. Simply cannot take it seriously.

They used to push the age in Hollywood, but really for dramatic films, and always being okay with the older man and younger woman. The much loved, overrated to me, Vertigo, is an example a great age difference, it always looked awkward to me, at the time Jimmy Stewart was 50 and Kim Novak was 25. But at least Jimmy was not jumping off skyscrapers and riding motorcycles off cliffs. But he was easily old enough to be her father.
