not officially I think, but I would have high confidence in that. NM, already above confirmed He is the only composer McQuarrie uses since he kicked Kraemer to the curb. Dullsville The previous film was one of the most badly overscored and poorly spotted films I have seen in years.
The first chapter was ace. Exciting and thrill a minute. Looking forward to seeing Part 2 at the flicks. While I prefer Kraemer score, the music in the last film was quite decent for Balfe and didn't harm the film.
Could never really get on with Balfe or his take on Mission: Impossible. The music used to be 'espionage' (Elfman, Giacchino, Kraemer... maybe not Zimmer though some cues of his were slinky and fun) but now is 'end of the world'. I know the films have become bigger and that the music is deemed to need to match such scale, but I still miss 'espionage'.
The last movie, however, was a real thrill - particularly the train sequence - even if I still think it's too early for rogue A.I. to be believable. I will still see this, as a fan, and I'm sure my jaw will hit the floor at many different points.
Edit: Just to add, I didn't mention Schifrin despite him being the archetype for the whole thing as I was referring more to the trajectory of the film series. But Balfe is so far removed from Schifrin, it isn't even funny.

good points, I thought the rogue AI baddie was a total stinker in the last one, a serious mistake, it just did not sell me at all. The music is pretty much like you said, music for apocalypse, which makes it way over the top, it is bombast to beat the audience into being impressed. It has the opposite effect on me. The MI brand was spy stuff, and I guess they pretty dropped that almost entirely since the Brad Bird directed chapter. They got bigger and more stunt driven to the loss of the spy angle. It is kind of what happened to Bond, they ran out of gas.
I also found the original score album for the latest chapter overlong but the Suites and Themes album is a delight, one of my favourite albums from last year.
Ado, don't you get tired of your same old boring negative rhetoric. Don't like the composer or film? Move on. What are your repetitive asides going to achieve. Many people here like the series and are looking forward to the concluding part. I'm no great fan of Balfe myself and was disappointed to see Joe-K lose the gig. But I quite enjoyed the last score and how it aided the film. Bore off mate.
