AI/tech has been used countless times as the nemesis to mankind.
The TERMINATOR film and its sequels (CyberNet/CyberDyne) for starters.

Auteur = selling the same old trademark sh!t roll eyes

yeah, Terminator is a rare effective one, stated in another place here, but it is, again, a human personified villain, not 'software as bad guy" Cameron knew better

I say it again: „Colossus - The Forbin Project“.

Of course, if your preference is that AI should be personalized - who can argue with that?

But your argument that everybody wants this and only Kubrick managed to do justice to this concept is, well, wrong.

I really do not understand that last part "everybody wants this", but yes, Kubrick, without any question, made the best film in all of history about a sinister computer. Yes, I think all of society is really boring in the constant obsession with AI right now. I already agreed earlier to what you said about War Games and Coloussus, but my point was that largely, the computer as "bad guy" is bad idea, not a compelling thing, not a real character, and dramatically inert. I think we are agreeing already. I never said Kubrick was the ONLY one, but the BEST one.

To say you are bored with that constant obsession with AI is like saying one is bored with that constant obsession with getting prices down or stopping wars.

AI is a major topic which for decades will influence how we live, work and survive.

Boring? You must be joking.

C´mon, you want to have it both ways in this discussion.

Again, it´s perfectly okay if you find it boring in movies. Or even in real life.

But stating for a fact that movies only got it right once in 2001 (which I absolutely love) is just plain wrong.

And returning to M:I - I do think the idea of AI here is interesting and a very scary prospect.

Feel free to disagree.

Now I'm looking forward to the score.

Back to the topic on hand I find myself more excited then I should be for this score. I don’t know anything the composers did before too. Bring it on.

Honestly, I can't think of a memorable villain from the Mission: Impossible series, so a generic AI seems par for the course. That isn't to say that I don't like the films. I enjoy the series quite a bit, but it is more about the crazy stunts, action sequences, and engaging, but sometimes confusing plots. Hopefully this film will be lots of fun. I am also looking forward to hearing the score and will happily buy the CD should La-La Land be able to release it.

okay, I think you are having a discussion that I was not really having with you, and I remain about movies and in television, stating that 'software villains" are terrible ideas and yes, boring. As for real life, I was not really even talking about that. Apparently you want me to continue saying that it was only done right once, even though I have said at least two or three times that I do not think it was only once. But it has not worked more than a handful of times. Both ways? I have no idea what you are even talking about. I was always talking about movies, that is it. Peace

The film is clearly weaker than the previous one, but I wish every action film was like this these days.
