We do the usual but to me, it's not the 4th Thursday in November if there is no turnip on the table. There also has to be homemade cranberry sauce and gravy, mashed potatoes and of course the big bird. However, if there is no turnip, my day is ruined.

This year I decided to forego making or even buying pies. Instead I am making scratch brownies and found a scrumptious recipe for a pecan sauce which will poured over the brownies. My son will be in heaven and won't miss the annual pecan pie.

You had me on the brownies, and lost me on the sauce. I guess you listen to John Williams and Jerry Goldsmith at the same time, then??? smile

Lol, I'm so engrossed in the recipe that I keep it quiet in the kitchen. The recipe is SO easy and it tastes amazing. I can share if anyone wants it.

Edit - I've been know to mess up a recipe or two by not paying attention. How about baking soda instead of corn starch in what was originally a delicious beef stew? It was like a science lesson.

I did that once. Try bettering me in some other arena, Ed. smile

Last year we had leftover turkey sandwiches on giant croissants. Divine.

While I love turkey, I really adore my homemade dressing smothered in my gravy.

OMG joan, I forgot to list stuffing. Full disclosure, we use dried bread from a local bakery but season it ourselves. Thanks for the reminder.

Add sausage to rice, stuffing or mac & cheese and I'm a happy camper.

On Thanksgiving Day, stuffing, no question about it. For leftovers, I take the bones and leftover turkey meat and turn it into a soup. I am not normally a dark meat fan, but the soup takes away a lot of the gaminess of the dark meat, and I enjoy it in the soup.

One family tradition I can't live without for Thanksgiving is corn pudding. It's a concoction of fresh corn, eggs, red and green bell pepper, onion and (I know it's weird) saltine crackers. Mix it all up, place it in a baking dish and bake at 350F for one hour.

Still got plenty in your freezer? Send some over to Ed's place, overnight.
