MONDAY, DECEMBER 2 KRAVEN THE HUNTER---Sony Pictures released the first eight minutes of the movie. LINK: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i-nAetWvYa8 CREATURE COMMANDOS---trailer released for the Max animated tv series. LINK: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3Zhmhw0OxYs DEEPER---the EDGE OF TOMORROW team of Tom Cruise and director Doug Liman will reunite for the supernatural movie written by Max Landis. The plot involves a disgraced ex-astronaut who is hired to pilot a submersible to explore a newly-discovered trench at the bottom of the ocean and encounters a deadly supernatural force. Liman said about the "scary movie", “I have never done one. And neither has Tom Cruise" (although fans pointed out Cruise starred in INTERVIEW WITH THE VAMPIRE). THE FANTASTIC FOUR: FIRST STEPS---photo released of Pedro Pascal (Reed Richards) signing autographs. STAR WARS---Denis Villeneuve explained why he will not direct a STAR WARS movie, “I was the target audience. I was 10 years old. It went to my brain like a silver bullet. I became obsessed with STAR WARS. I mean, THE EMPIRE STRIKES BACK is the movie that I anticipated the most in my life. I saw the movie a billion times onscreen. I was traumatized by THE EMPIRE STRIKES BACK. I adore STAR WARS.” He continued, “It’s a long story. I was 15 years old, and my best friend and I wanted to take a cab and go to L.A. and talk to George Lucas – we were so angry! Still today, the Ewoks. It turned out to be a comedy for kids… STAR WARS became crystallized in its own mythology, very dogmatic, it seemed like a recipe, no more surprises. So I’m not dreaming to do a STAR WARS because it feels like code is very codified.” GLADIATOR III---Ridley Scott said the sequel's $320 million worldwide box office versus its $350 million (Budget and marketing) means a new sequel is likely, “Given the performance in the rest of the world we’ve seen yesterday, there’s certainly going to be a GLADIATOR III.” EDWARD SCISSORHANDS---Tim Burton commented on if he would like to direct a sequel to the 1990 movie starring Johnny Depp, “There are certain films I don’t want to make a sequel to. I didn’t want to make a sequel to that because it felt like a one-off thing. I didn’t want to have a sequel for THE NIGHTMARE BEFORE CHRISTMAS because it also felt like a one-off thing. Certain things are best left on their own, and that, for me, is one of them.” Burton also commented on reuniting with Depp, "Well, I’m sure there will be. I never feel like, oh, I’m going to use this and that actor. It usually has to be based on the project I’m working on. That’s what film is all about. It’s collaboration and bouncing ideas off the people around you.” JANE GOODALL---primatologist Jane Goodall said Disney and Leonardo DiCaprio's Appian Way Productions are developing a biomovie based on her life, “They’re making a film about me with an actress. I’ve seen the first draft of the script and made a lot of comments.” ROMY AND MICHELE'S HIGH SCHOOL REUNION---Mia Sorvino commented on the status of the sequel, “They’ve done his deal, they’ve done Lisa [Kudrow] and my deals as executive producers. [Original screenwriter Robin Schiff] has written multiple drafts of an amazing funny script, which checks all the boxes for all the fans.” She added, “And they’re just going back and forth, tweaking things here and there, and [there are] rumors of shooting it second quarter next year. But, it’s not officially greenlit, so I can’t say that it’s officially greenlit.” EXCALIBUR---a rumor claims Marvel Studios is developing an EXCALIBUR tv series. TRIVIA---character actor Alex Henteloff appeared in two 1986 movies in which someone became wealthy by developing an exotic metal composite. In STAR TREK IV: THE VOYAGE HOME, Henteloff played Dr. Nichols, Plexicorp plant manager, who became "rich beyond the dreams of avarice" when Enterprise Chief Engineer Montgomery Scott gave him the formula for transparent aluminum. In 52 PICK-UP, Henteloff played Los Angeles city employee Dan Lowenthal, whose co-worker, Barbara Mitchell (Ann-Margret), is running for city council and is kidnapped for ransom because she is married to Harry Mitchell (Roy Scheider), who became wealthy with NASA and military contracts after he developed a process which bonded titanium to steel. Yeah, yeah, he legally changed his name after becoming wealthy thanks to Scotty, moved, hired engineers to figure out the formula and extrapolate it, then invented something else and became even more wealthy. Yes, it'll be a spin-off film one day: The wealthy adventures of a guy who accidentally goes to the future and then tries to be the big shit in the future.

DEEPER---the EDGE OF TOMORROW team of Tom Cruise and director Doug Liman will reunite for the supernatural movie written by Max Landis. Liman said about the "scary movie", “I have never done one. And neither has Tom Cruise" (although fans pointed out Cruise starred in INTERVIEW WITH THE VAMPIRE). Ooooh, lots of tantalizing things there. I absolutely loved EDGE OF TOMORROW (would have loved a sequel to this), and curious to hear what they can make with this. The premise sounds 100% like something up my alley. EDWARD SCISSORHANDS---Tim Burton commented on if he would like to direct a sequel to the 1990 movie starring Johnny Depp, “There are certain films I don’t want to make a sequel to. I didn’t want to make a sequel to that because it felt like a one-off thing. I didn’t want to have a sequel for THE NIGHTMARE BEFORE CHRISTMAS because it also felt like a one-off thing. It’s collaboration and bouncing ideas off the people around you.” Kudos to Burton. I agree that those two films are pretty self-sufficient as they are. He did one for BEETLEJUICE, but that was far less "sacred" territory, and opened itself up to that in a way that EDWARD and NIGHTMARE didn't.

I guess Beetlejuice wasn't one of those and we clearly needed a sequel to that … because.

there's certainly going to be a GLADIATOR III.” The maths don't add up Ridley! So, if he gets to do a fourth, will it be- 'Gladiator IV' or ' Gladiator IIII'? That's what I think we need to know.
