By the way the post above that I made is for me to express myself. I am not actually mad but I really want a “Raise the Titanic” soundtrack release from the original recordings. Me too.

It's just that what they haven't done is recreated film edits where the film edits are only a hatchet job, not additional tape content. Whilst largely agreeing with you, I do think care should be taken not to lump all editorial cases into one basket, and certainly not as hackjobs. I've heard some editorial creations that are extremely well conceived and constructed, and often change the tone of a scene completely. Very often with those cases, the first time you realise it wasn't a composed cue was the lack of its presence (or presence of another, similar-sounding cue) on a set. On the occasions of more simple tracking, it's not inconceivable that the composer, faced with a lack of time, suggested tracking in something - hence an edited cue could be editorially a bit rough, but creatively inspired. OTOH... I've heard an isolated score from a particular blockbuster where the music editing is mostly diabolical. There are some cases where hearing editors' work is an interesting insight (or even an integral part of a scene), and others where it's not.

I agree that some edits work nicely, and for what it's worth, I think Freefall is one of them. (That said, I'd love to see the intended cue up against the picture to see how it works.) However, every note of music that John Barry recorded for Moonraker is on this disc. There is nothing missing. One might say that they wish that the film edit of Freefall was on there as a bonus, and as an expression of personal wish, it's fine. I'm just saying that earlier implications that this set is somehow incomplete are incorrect. It took me less than a minute to make the film edit of Freefall for my own iTunes library, and I suggest everyone who is in love with the film edit can do the same. If we label the sections of the recorded track as follows: 1. The riff part of the James Bond theme 2. The high-tension bridge that is not James Bond theme 3. The bebop section part of the James Bond theme 4. The double gunbarrel staccato. Then you simply need to edit it as follows: 3-4, followed by a tiny bit of silence, followed by 2-3-4, but deleting one of the gunbarrel staccato figures completely and deleting the first part of the second. All you need to do is look closely to snip at just the right points, because there are no natural spaces in the recorded cue. Cheers

Thank God I have not seen this film since it opened, so the "Freefall" film edit means nothing to me. I'll just enjoy the cue as JB intended it.
