I feel like a lot of the Peter Pan inspired scores (Return to Neverland, Hook, Tinker Bell, Peter Pan (JNH) have a Christmas quality to them. I guess "Gremlins" and "Lethal Weapon" could qualify too. "While You Were Sleeping" by Randy Edelman is another.

Interestingly, Barry's Dances With Wolves and the New American Orchestra Blade Runner are more associated with "summer" for me.

I saw Dances with Wolves 3 times in theatres over the Xmas holidays in 1990. So I always associate the movie and music with the holidays. smile

I can very much relate to that, I listened to Blade Runner and Dances With Wolves a lot during the summer, so same thing, just different season.

BLADE RUNNER is not tied to any particular season for me. It's ALL tied to cityscapes, rain and nighttime. But if I HAD to choose a season that is the closest, then no doubt autumn. Certainly not Christmas. But yes -- personal childhood connections and all that.

Hmmm... Definitely Hook. And here's the unexpected departures.

Fantasia, because it was first released on video in November on VHS, and that was the first time I'd ever seen it.

Bram Stoker's Dracula. As a late fall release, I listened to the soundtrack endlessly, and many times on headphones walking through snowy nights.

While You Were Sleeping. Not just the time setting of the movie, but sometimes you want a simple score to pass an afternoon.

Thomas Newman's LITTLE WOMEN is festive and lovely. Being a Christmas movie with some seasonal elements in it, I often give it a spin at this time of year.
Same for me...a must-listen.

Someone already mentioned Thomas Newman's Little Women, but I agree...also:
Little Women - Desplat
Silver Skates - Guy Farley

I did the same with Die Hard. Saw it over ten times in 1988 in theatres throughout the summer and Fall so it never seems festive to me. smile

I seem to recall at least one of the trilogy KING OF KINGS, BEN HUR and THE TEN COMMANDMENTS being on TV during the holidays, so I think of those scores.

But maybe I'm mixing it up with Easter.

Agree with all you said... it's not a score tied to any particular season for me, but autumn is the best fit.

Kaper's exhuberant yet elegant Swan has a delightfully Christmassy sound that hits all the right spots this season.

I’ve often seen the first two shown on TCM as well as The Greatest Story Ever Told at least once around this time of year, so you’re not too far off. As a matter of fact, those scores traditionally kick off my listening slate for December.

Jason and the Argonauts - Bernard Herrmann.

I mean, come on!

Found my old thread. Pretty much the same scores were mentioned!

Not a score but a musical cue. The belly dancing music from Delerue's Something Wicked This Way Comes.

I'm happy with that - always on at Christmas since I been about 8. That and mysterious island.

And all Connery Bonds, plus Ohmss.

I saw OHMSS when it was released as a teenager in December of 1969, so the time of season, snowy Alps, and multiple LP spins during the holidays makes this a seasonal hit for me. The film's Christmas song helps, too.

Moby Dick. Seems like it was always on our tv on Christmas day.
