Film about the Batman villain, in pre production.

Writer and director: Mike Flanagan

IMDb page: https://www.imdb.com/title/tt34890576/reference

Unless something changes, he's worked multiple times on his films with The Newton Brothers, so I suspect they'll get it. Though I personally think Christopher Young would be a great choice.

Just brings back memories of Shirley Walker's 'Feat of Clay'

Flanagan is writing but it sounds like he won't direct.

From Variety:

"Flanagan, who first pitched DC Studios on a Clayface project in 2023, tweeted in 2021 that he was 'really keen to do a standalone Clayface movie as a horror/thriller/tragedy.' But he is already committed to write and direct a new take on 'The Exorcist' for Universal, through Blumhouse and Morgan Creek, and he’s also developing a series adaptation of Stephen King’s novel 'Carrie' for Amazon MGM Studios. So DC has been on the hunt for a director to take the reins, and an announcement is imminent."

Sorry, I was going by IMDb for the director credit.

Nah, nothing to apologize for but certainly it'll have some bearing on who scores it. I wonder if he'll take an active role in producing and have some input that way.

I certainly hope not. I know some people are taken by TNB, but I am not. Yes, yes, I'm sure they're God's gift to the new crop for Thorface, and I'd love to not hear about it.

But I got a nagging feeling we'll be Balfed, Priced, or Giacchinoed.

No worries, Bogganface, I'm neither a fan nor a hater of the Newton Bros. They can do some good things now and then, but their horror stuff is very horror, without much of the dark melodicism I prefer in the genre. The main synth theme on FIVE NIGHTS AT FREDDY'S, for example, was excellent, before it plummeted into more typical ambient fare.

But Flanagan is one of my favourite directors around at the moment, and they've done some good work for him (especially in the context of the films or the TV shows, perhaps less so outside), so there's that. I'm not sold on a Flanagan superhero thing, as I dont' like superhero stuff in general, but if anyone can do something interesting for it, it should be him. Even with a stupidly named character like Clayface.
