For the first time ever, Vince Guaraldi's 1974 "It's the Easter Beagle, Charlie Brown (Original Soundtrack Recording - Peanuts 75th Anniversary Edition)" premieres, with the complete 19 track score plus 1 special bonus track - on CD.

The holiday classic was written and created by Charles Schulz, directed by Phil Roman and produced by Bill Melendez and Lee Mendelson. The Guaraldi score is finally available on CD, vinyl and digital. Mixed and mastered for audiophiles, jazz lovers, and Peanuts® fans everywhere from the original 2" session tapes to a 192kHz/24bit master.

The record Includes Guaraldi hits like "Peppermint Patty," "Easter Theme," and "Snoopy and Woodstock". And includes a special bonus track: "Woodstock's Medley" performed by Guaraldi torch-bearer David Benoit (piano) with original Guaraldi sidemen Seward McCain (Bass) and Mike Clark (drums) - recorded 50 years later at the same Hyde Street studio where the soundtrack was recorded in San Francisco.

From the elegant title theme, to some Guaraldified Beethoven, to the profoundly catchy central theme of "Woodstock's Dream," Guaraldi's indelible score has surprises for everyone to enjoy this spring and year round.

Beyond the composer's playing on piano, electric piano, harpsichord, and electric guitar, McCain plays electric bass, Robert Clare plays flute, Glenn Cronkhite and Eliot Zigmund play drums, and John Scott Trotter supervised the music.

This album is a wonderful Easter treat 50+ years in the making. The album was mixed by Clark Germain at WonderWorld Studio, and restored and mastered by Vinson Hudson, and produced by Sean and Jason Mendelson. The CD includes an 8-page insert with art from the special and liner notes that give a track-by-track analysis by producer Sean Mendelson and notes by producer Jason Mendelson and Derrick Bang (author of "Vince Guaraldi at the Piano"). The CD has additional photographs and images of historical artifacts.

Never in a million years did I think we’d get all of these riches.

Just delightful!

It sure is an amazing era to be a Bond fan and/or a Peanuts TV specials fan! These just keep on coming and coming, and since my wife is the latter I’m going to keep on buying them!

I have a feeling, based on the way they describe him, that they'll handle Benoit's work, too at some point.

By the way (updated, and copied and pasted from the thread for the last release and including a link to this thread just so it can be copied again at some point):

Previous release threads I have started:

Definitely great news! They’re certainly plowing through the Guaraldi/Peanuts scores. I wonder which one will be next as I’m pretty sure that this marks the last of the major specials to be done. As far as the Guaraldi scores are concerned, the only ones that still need to be done are:

You’re in Love, Charlie Brown
He’s Your Dog, Charlie Brown
Play It Again, Charlie Brown
There’s No Time For Love, Charlie Brown
It’s a Mystery, Charlie Brown
It’s Arbor Day, Charlie Brown

There's also an unrelease documentary from 1963 about Charlie Brown, with a score credited to Vince:

And a short documentary not about Charlie Brown, but about bicycles, starring Bill Cosby, which has a score credited to him "Bicycles are Beautiful":

I wonder if some of the smaller specials will be combined in future releases.

Either way, I love these!

Just realized I forgot about another Guaraldi Peanuts score, You’re a Good Sport, Charlie Brown. I’ve never seen that Cosby documentary, but I imagine the 63 documentary would be similar to the most recent release of Christmas (a remaster of the original album, plus whatever alternate takes survive).

Wow. Wow. Wow.

I cannot believe how fortunate we are to have these releases of Vince Guaraldi's Peanuts music.

I'd say I'm tired of winning, but it's just not true! More, please!!!

Yeah, that’s another one I forgot about (along with You’re a Good Sport, Charlie Brown)

What about the Mayflower one that always airs after the Thanksgiving special?

What about the Mayflower one that always airs after the Thanksgiving special?

I don’t think I’ve ever seen that one, but I believe that was made after Guaraldi’s passing.

Bon Voyage, Charlie Brown (and Don't Come Back!!) 1980

A nostalgic childhood favorite of mine, post-Guaraldi era. The whole thing had a kind of melancholy Eurovibe, and the burning chateau scene always freaked me out!

Would be really cool to see this one released on CD.

P.S. Thanks for the heads up on the Easter Beagle... ORRRRRDERRRRRED

A fun score by Ed Bogas, who composed music for many of the Garfield specials.
