The official title of this subject is "Non-Important things that perturb me but shouldn’t because there are far more greater concerns in life!" But due to length, I was denied.

But here goes...

As a long time collector of John Williams music, it just bothers me that I had to surrender to digital downloads of the Obi-Wan TV show theme and Disney’s Galaxy’s Edge Suite.
Believe me, I was really freaking out when the Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny soundtrack wasn’t (originally) released on CD.

Just to be contrary... as a long time collector of film scores, it just bothers me that I still have to order CDs for many superb specialty releases, instead of just getting them as lossless/high-res downloads.

I spend a lot of time in my days in record stores, first LPs, then CDs, and I have hundreds of LPs and a couple of thousand CDs, but I would rather get "new" music henceforth as lossless/high-res downloads with booklets as PDFs, but that's not yet an option. For classical, yes, mostly, but not for film scores.

So we don't always get what we want. It perturbs me, but not enough to be really riled up about it... if I really want something, I just buy that damn silver disc, pay the postage and customs and wait for weeks to get it and rip it. :-)

As a fellow Williams collector (and completist), I can understand that.

But over the years, I've come to terms with the fact that there's a large amount of Williams material that I will only have as digital files. That includes all the...uhm....unreleased stuff, but also things that don't necessarily fall within my completist parameters, like his piano gigs or the Boston Pops albums. "Galaxy's Edge" and "Obi-Wan" ARE his compositions, so they DO fall within my parameters, but I suppose they've just gotten swept up by all the other digital file-only elements in my JW collection.

For the moment, I shrug and move on. Should they be physically released at some point, however, I need to get them somehow. But I don't walk around worrying about it.
