SEASON 1:
TV series that began in 1972 and ran for seven seasons, with some TV movies. IMDb page: https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0068067/reference/ The generic jazzy theme music is by Nelson Riddle. Better arrangements of this theme occur in episodes, which sometimes really strengthen it. Attention readers: I have been using a system that is nothing more than a note to myself; for cues that I want to include in a suite one day, for now on I will denote them with ^ symbol. It has no special meaning to anyone else but myself. No, the lack of an up arrow symbol doesn't mean the cue is bad (it just may have too much SFX or FX for suite use or just isn't worth my time to edit and include). Hence forth this system will be in all future threads and pre-exiting threads that I go back to for missed episodes. Anything in ( ) are just notes to the arrow and you need not bother with that. The system does not mean that I will make a suite or that one has been made, it's simply for my own reference if and when I do decide to. "The Wedsworth-Townsend Act" (0) (the feature-length pilot) (Jan. 15, 1972) By: Nelson Riddle https://ok.ru/video/3158783036090 https://ok.ru/video/7522474396219 (edited down version) Alternative link: https://archive.org/details/emergency-s-01- Highlights: 0:22 in. Special Universal Studios logo music.^ 3:55 in. At one point it sounded like the music stopped, but then it faded back in, so I think part of the cue was dropped and it's just one continuous cue.^ 8:37 in. 11:33 in.^(open/14:18) 25:51 in.^ 32:23 in.^ 34:51 in. 42:18 in. 44:08 in.^ 47:21 in.^ 1:01:54 in.^ 1:05:57 in.^ 1:10:11 in. With some exciting music for a plane flying.^ 1:11:40 in. Brass fanfare opening.^ 1:15:10 in.^ 1:17:08 in.^ 1:23:00 in.^ 1:34:32 in. Leads quickly into the [short] end credits.^ Jack Webb directs. I think he had a hand in some parts of the writing, too, specifically the speech the doctor gives before the panel around the last quarter of the episode, sounds some like one of Joe Friday's good speeches from "Dragnet". (Note to Me: 1:35:20 -- composer credit) Just a taste for now -- the thread will continue some time in February. NOTE: This was a requested series by a fan in the TV Scoring thread I created.

Thread continues Tuesdays and Thursdays, starting next week. Because episodes are score heavy, it's slow going, like it's slow going on "The Virginian", averaging three episodes a day, and yesterday I was only able to do one due to work on suites, so I need to build up reviews and I can't just push even a small amount out each day, or I'll run out, plus it'll be too much for users to handle.

Continuing SEASON 1:
Sorry about this update -- I wanted to get out of the way what appears (so far) to be the only episodes of the series to not have a composer credited. https://ok.ru/video/c5025210 "Mascot" (1) By: ????? https://ok.ru/video/3158783232698 No composer is credited, but none of this is from the pilot. The theme music from the pilot is kept, but here it is given a greater jazz approach and beat: 4:35. (Score: 0:39, 4:12, 5:17, 7:43, 8:37, 9:51, 11:44, 17:47, 17:49, 20:16, 24:08, 26:41, 28:31, 34:15, 35:31, 36:23, 37:14, 42:06, 45:04 [that's a cool opening thirty seconds], 47:19, 48:11, and 50:13.) "Botulism" (2) By: ????? https://ok.ru/video/3158783494842 No composer is credited, but none of this sounds like it is from the pilot. (Score: 0:22, 2:34, 8:50, 10:07, 11:02, 14:30, 17:03, 18:06, 20:04 [well, this might be from the pilot], 24:58, 27:45, 29:47, 31:34, 32:49, 36:57, 37:39, 38:45, 42:47, 44:27, and 49:33.) "Cook's Tour" (3) By: ????? https://ok.ru/video/3158783429306 No composer is credited (Identify: 0:57, 8:55, 10:48, 15:04, 17:56, 27:07, 31:22, 35:34 [by the music, you'd think Batman was in that ambulance], 39:04, 40:15, 42:11, 48:39.) * = That's the most perfectly stocked and fronted store I've ever seen, it's almost as if it's a set and nobody shops there... ;-) Out-of-context quote... "Brushfire" (4) By: Nelson Riddle https://ok.ru/video/3158783691450 (link used) https://ok.ru/video/8548247996987 Highlights: 0:25 in.^ 1:30 in.^ 5:34 in. One of the best uses of the theme, making it sound more dramatic and not so bland. Too bad its buried under sirens and can't be used for a suite. Character getting annoyed at being called off a call of a traffic accident where no one was injured, instead of being glad no one was hurt, laughing about a man having driven off a high cliff and magically living just because the guy is "plastered". And the comedic scoring just makes it worse. That guy in his little green bug -- all I can hear after seeing him alive and the cliff he drove off of is... CinemaSins voice: "He survives this." I mean, come on, not even a seat belt. His brains should be splattered al over the cracked windshield after his head slammed into it. "I guess we only have one hope: Eventually, it'll be tomorrow." And the cue after the commercial break. 45:21 in.^ 49:08 in.^ I did look it up, and there is no director named Boris Miller. He's played by an actor named Ezra Stone. I don't know why they simply couldn't have gotten some director not busy on a TV series for the studio and had a cameo. (NtM: 9:33) "Virus" (4) By: Nelson Riddle https://ok.ru/video/3161213504186 Highlights: 0:05 in.^ 6:57 in.^ 30:46 in.^ 31:44 in.^ 34:25 in.^ 40:58 in. Low key material.^ 44:03 in.
