I've been listening to podcasts for a while to fall asleep to. I came upon one called Song Exploder. Below is a link that explains what the podcasts are about. The artists featured are very diverse. I listen to another podcast founded by the host, Hrishikesh Hirway and he's a great moderator and host. What caught my eye were the names Alexandre Desplat, Game of Thrones (Ramin Djawadi of course) and Yo-Yo Ma. We're going to see Yo-Yo Ma shortly and it will be interesting to give that one a listen.
Thanks! As a fan of Norah Jones I had known of this podcast, her episode was great. Very insightful dissect of one of her songs. But I never realized there were film music related episodes.
The Desplat one (for The Imitation Game) has been removed for copyright issues, but I have spotted other Film/TV/VG Score episodes in the list:
- La La Land (Justin Hurwitz) - Arrival (Johann Johannsson) - John Carpenter (Halloween Theme) - Only Murders In The Building (Siddhartha Khosla) - The Nightmare Before Christmas (Danny Elfman) - Dune (Hans Zimmer) - Black Panther (Ludwig Goransson) - House of Cards (Jeff Beal) - Watch Dogs (Brian Reitzell) - Avengers: Age of Ultron (Brian Tyler) - Moonlight (Nicholas Brittel) - Strangers Things (Kyle Dixon & Michael Stein) - Transparent (Dustin O'Halloran)
We saw YoYo Ma earlier tonight. What an amazing cellist and an amazing human being. I've never been to a concert where the artist put so much of himself into the performance. This is my second time seeing him perform, the first time several years ago. I am hoping his episode on Song Exploder is still on there. It's the perfect time to listen.
