LLLCD 1657

Music composed and conducted by Michael Kamen

Limited edition of 5,000 units

Exclusive release: Sold exclusively here at www.lalalandrecords.com and 007Store.com for the first 90 days of release

La-La Land Records, Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer, EON Productions and Universal Music Enterprises mark the 35th Anniversary of the sixteenth 007 film Licence To Kill, with a remastered and expanded 2-CD re-issue of composer Michael Kamen’s original motion picture score. Produced by Albert R. Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson, the 1989 film stars Timothy Dalton as James Bond in his second turn as 007 and is helmed by John Glen, directing his fifth Bond film.

Oscar® nominated composer Michael Kamen joins the Bond music fold and unleashes a robust and propulsive score to Licence To Kill, a perfect complement to the harder-edged story, which sees Bond seeking revenge for the maiming of his friend Felix Leiter (David Hedison) and the killing of his new bride Della (Priscilla Barnes). Kamen’s thematic work honors the series’ iconic musical legacy with exciting variations of the classic “James Bond Theme,” while bringing his own unique style to the world of James Bond. Expanded beyond the original soundtrack album, Licence To Kill hits its target like never before within this deluxe presentation, which also includes two versions of the film’s title song, performed by Gladys Knight.

Produced by Neil S. Bulk and mastered by Doug Schwartz from 1/4" stereo tapes and 3-track mag provided by MGM, this is a special 2-CD release, limited to only 5,000 units. The score presentation is spread across both discs, while Disc Two also includes the remastered 1989 soundtrack album, as well as additional music. The exclusive, new liner notes are by film music journalist and author Jon Burlingame and the art direction is by Dan Goldwasser.

Looks like I posted at the same time. As I said in the thread I posted, this was an instant order. The movie is a top 3 Bond for me and the score is a banger. Excited to hear this properly presented.

Looks like a great album! That said, I have to assume they were required to use that European poster for the cover art because no sane artist would want to use it today. Woof.

Glad to see this released at last. Instant purchase even though I'm still waiting for my previous order (Moonraker, Golden Gun, Godfather 2) from the beginning of December to ship which was supposed to be a Christmas gift frown

WOW ! I was not expecting this to be one of the mid January release titles. I have hoped to see an expanded edition of License To Kill for a long time. I can't wait to hear it. La La Land please keep expanding the Bond film music world. I know you know 2025 is A View To A Kill's 40th anniversary and Thunderball's 60th. I can hope LOL. Thank you La La Land for all the great releases and the high standards and hard work you put into these titles. The quality shows and is appreciated.

Immediate order.
Interesting to see that the UK & Europe LP cover image has been used instead of the US LP cover image.

Wow, this has been a grail since I was disapointed with the LP program. The first Bond movie I saw at theatre and one of my favorites in the series.

I note that this release was prepared from tapes provided by MGM. Comparing the contents of the CD with the music from the sessions at the Kamen estate website I note that, unfortunately, the unused title song composed by Kamen "The Reward" and the initial attempt for an instrumental title music, the "James Bond Theme" recorded by Kamen, Clapton and Vic Flick, are not included, probably for rights issues.

In any case what matters the most, the score, seems to be all there and it is amazing that this have been finally released as both film and score are vastly underrated. I specially missed in the album the tracks
"Della's Goodbye"
"Ocean Exotica Break-In"
"Bond Aboard/Sharkey Dead"
"Planting the Explosives" and
"Escape From The Compound"

Among the non-Barry Bond scores this probably ranks as my #2 right below LALD and above TND.

Thanks LLL!

Been a fan of that cue "Pam" . Now I learn its not the film version. Cool. 2 Pams are better than 1.

Well, I don't see how they can refuse purchases from other retailers who then sell them on. They probably order under their own name rather than the store so impossible to police or enforce.
