Weird. I don't believe Ottman was ever on this (is he still doing scores?) Probably just some rando assuming that any Shane movie would have an Ottman score (especially one that Joel Silver was at one point involved with). Silvestri is the only composer Shane has ever mentioned for this project, happy to see it's happening.

I promise you, he did not "replace" Ottman. I've spoken with Shane nearly every week for the last five years, (even when he was in Australia making the movie) and Ottman's name never came up. Shane wanted Silvestri before they even started filming.

I'm going to be putting out a couple of e-mails to people who might be able to clear this up. Of course I'll note that I created and run the Rejected Film Scores website.

And in case anyone's curious, Play Dirty is based on the "Parker" novels by Richard Stark (aka Donald E. Westlake), that inspired such films as Point Blank, The Split, The Outfit, Made in USA, Slayground, Payback and Parker. Mark Wahlberg plays Parker; LaKeith Stanfield plays Grofield (a recurring character from the books who has 4 spinoff Stark books of his own, but who has yet to appear in any of the films). And even if Joel Silver wanted Ottman at one point, there was certainly never a "rejected score."

I'm not saying there is, but it is a mystery to solve, and I have the Supposedly page on my site for such titles.

A mystery doesn't have to have validity to it, it just have to be something to solve. As the creator and runner of the site, some people might go there wondering what happened, if those entries were even true or completely bogus -- that's what the Supposedly page is for: rumors, assignments that didn't happen, speculation, etc. The time to get answers is when memories are fresh.
