Does licensing history matter? It's been released - enjoy. It's a great score. I managed to snag the original release before it was taken off the shelves.
I'd support anything the labels do to stay in business and release all those lost scores we crave. Remember when Lukas pressed way more LOGAN'S RUN CD's than he'd negotiated. Did anyone really notice? Or care? Yes, it's obviously nice to do a deal with the studios and get access to their prime materials. But at this stage of the game, FOR ME, I just want the stuff out there while I'm still able to buy and listen to it. It's SO niche in the grand scheme of things.
Well, we noticed because Lukas confessed here on the forum he did that with multiple titles. We also don't know what price (if any) he paid. I never saw a post regarding that end. But he did start by licensing.

Well, I remember back in the day I did notice that it was rather strange for LOGAN'S RUN to never sell out, even though many "lesser" Goldsmith "limited to 3000" releases that were released later sold out much quicker. So I posted about it (for example on the (now defunct) Intrada forum).
Very happy to see that this awesome Bernstein score, among my top 5 from him, is getting another chance on CD. I have a copy of that initial CD release from Perseverance (was that back in 2012?) and find it a great presentation - I'm not sure whether I order this new edition or not?
I don't mean to put pressure like everyone else has, but I also would like to know if this release will be restocked when it's first batch sells out. I'm short on cash so I can't afford it atm. I don't want to wait for a month or two then be informed that I missed my only chance getting it and costs $30-$40 more on third party sites like what happened with Jerry Goldsmith's the Other
Things would sure look a lot better if Ford had provided some kind of answer in that earlier thread. That said this is a neat set of sci-fi releases for sure.
I have the Perseverance release of this...I don't see a lot of difference at all between this and that, other than the last 2 tracks split on the DDR release. I wonder if there is any sound quality difference? Love this score, but if it is basically the same I don't think I need to double dip.

If you don't hear a difference within the audio samples they provided then I think you're good.

If purchased directly from DDR you also get 24 bit WAV files, which is theoretically better than CD quality.

They've released 24-bit waves from sources that were 16-bit mastered too...
