I did not spend more than an hour on research and writing just to have this thread dwindle away like this!

COME ON!...let's do a little analyzin':

1) Pick you favourite TV theme
2) Tell me why you think it's so great
3) How does it work in relation to the visuals?
4) How does it work in relation to the series overall?

Easy, no?

The Equalizer

1) I think it captures the overall essence of the actual show.
2) It definitely works well within the visuals of the dangers of the Big City, and the possibility of being rescued.
3) I think its the perfect theme for a show of this type. It sets the mood well, and explains in visuals what to expect.

Another excellent example of a short title sequence that says it all is...

Terry Nation's "Survivors"

The title sequence fits the bill, does it in a very short amount of time (15 secs?) and is one of only 2 pieces of music used in the entire show. That and the end credits and thats it.
