Just gave it a first listen with headphones and all I can say is AWESOME!!!! THIS is the mastering I was hoping would happen with this masterpiece. The tape hiss is almost non existent now and the quieter cues play beautifully. Dream come true and thanks to all involved bringing the best version of this Goldsmith Powerhouse to us.

Will we get a Goldsmith Odyssey podcast soon about that new First Blood edition?

How are the liner notes? Are they different?

Same liners with minor tweaks from the previous edition.

I noticed the 2010 version still says "temporarily out of stock" are they still planning on repressing this version?

It's back in stock https://store.intrada.com/s.nl/it.A/id.6859/.f

This is an odd choice to reissue since the new edition essentially replaces it.

I'm guessing it is to clear the old stock, or ride out the current contracts for that release, assuming the new release would have new contracts.

Currently listening to this new set, and it sounds fantastic to me.

Very much worth the upgrade from the 2010 CD.

The old page probably just got activated again by accident. Maybe one or two people are getting the new album at a $3 discount. smile

The new edition is now streaming on Spotify (and probably most other streaming services).
It’s listed as “First Blood (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack) [Expanded Edition]”

This is probably a question for Neil.
Is the cue Escape Route on disc 1 a different take to that on the album presentation? The opening keyboard notes sound very different.
You, Mike and the good folks at Intrada absolutely nailed it with this presentation. Always what I've hoped for.
Thank you.

Based on the sound clips, it sounds to my ear like one can "remaster" the 2010 version to run at the correct speed by using a playback sample rate of 43,100 Hz (instead of the typical 44,100). Typo made in the original mastering software? smile

I seem to recall the King Solomon's Mines issue was 48kHz vs 44.1kHz, so there was quite a bit more of a speed/pitch issue with that one.

TBH both expanded edition is on SPOTYFY and the difference is very slight with the home coming guitar

actually it sounds like the 2010 home coming track is identical to the Varese FIRST BLOOD

and the guitar is more clear on the 2010 film score than that 2025 film score version - as is the guitar on the 2025 OST

don't know if that is a film mix thing

could be nice with an A/B comparement i have read the Interview of NSB but i am not familiar with the score even though I do have the 2010 album - and I'll gladly update

Bit would be nice to know what I am updating though wink
