A buddy and I watched this for the first time since probably 1987 or 1988 and the score is pure synth 80s goodness.
It appears it was done by "Rareview" which is three uncredited guys named Joseph Conlan, Steve Schaeffer, & Tom Scott, all uncredited.
It appears that Conlan is mainly a composer but and has done a lot of stuff but for a ton of no-name movies. Schaeffer appears to be a percussion musician, and Scott is a sometimes composer but mostly woodwind musician.
I cannot find any other info on this soundtrack, and it appears it was never released officially.
Any other 80's synth lovers here that have any more info on this particular score?
We both really enjoyed it and is the standout in a rather average John Cusack movie.
LOL, just the kind of film music mysteries I love.
Had not heard of Rareview before. Seems like those 3 guys also scored the AIRWOLF episode Birds Of Paradise in 1986 after Sylvester Levay had left.
HOT PURSUIT is on youtube, opening sounded somewhat like RISKY BUSINESS, coupled with Conlan's own STICK.
Would have loved a release.
I just sent a message to Schaeffer on messenger.
I would put them in the same league as groups like Acrobat, Cinemascore, Paradise, Pray For Rain and Berlin Game, all short-lived 80s/90s ensembles who did film music only.

Awesome. Please report back if you hear anything from him.
Score is really nice, surely enough material for a release. A pity Varese Sarabande didn't pick it up in 87. They released more obscure stuff than this.
Some nice Thomas Newman-elements too, and of course some of Scott's sax. Also a few gorgeous pure "synth-wave" cues.
I sent a message to director Steven Lisberger on Facebook. Let's see if there is any response...
