OUR LOVE IS LIKE THE WIND - Love Theme from Romeo & Juliet 2013 - Music by James Horner

Our love is like the Wind
Our love is like a Rose
By any name as sweet - Amended by Andreas
Doth ask, no reason why

Our love is like the Wind
And blows forever too - Amended by Andreas
Good fortune follows then - Amended by Andreas
We dance beyond the sky

The Mask of Night is here
With darkness in its train
And though life may take flight - Amended by Andreas
Our love will always soar

Until the grave locked Dawn - Amended by Andreas
Finds us in his embrace
The shadows free our Hearts
The boundless skies to face - Amended by Andreas

Come love in gentle nights
And lo your Starry Bay
Our love is like the Wind
By which your life sustains

On Golden Wings we fly
Through Velvet Clouds entwined
Take us beyond the sky
Our Love is like the Wind

These lyrics are not confirmed, but it's what I hear when listening to the song. They pretty much make sense with ROMEO & JULIET SHAKESPEARE lingo, quotes and ideas from the play.

Please post corrections if you hear something different. Thanks, Zoob

Hi Zoob,

oh thank you for your efforts! I’m looking for the correct lyrics for a very long time without success. I’m german, so it’s more difficult to understand Sissel’s „norwegan English“ ;-) I have some suggestions for some lines I have heard different….

Andreas

startquote]OUR LOVE IS LIKE THE WIND - Love Theme from Romeo & Juliet 2013 - Music by James Horner

Our love is like the Wind
Our love is like a Rose
By any name as sweet
Don‘t ask, no reason why

Our love is like the Wind
And blows forever too
Good fortune follows then
We dance beyond the sky

The Mask of Night is here
With darkness in its train
And though life may take flight
Our love will always soar

Until the grateful Dawn
Finds us in his embrace
The shadows free our Hearts
The boundless skies to face

Come love in gentle nights
And low your Starry Bay
Our love is like the Wind
By which your life decends

On Golden Wings we fly
Through Velvet Clouds entwined
Take last beyond the sky
Our Love is like the Wind

These lyrics are not confirmed, but it's what I hear when listening to the song. They pretty much make sense with ROMEO & JULIET SHAKESPEARE lingo, quotes and ideas from the play.

Thank you Andreas! I have Amended several of the lyrics with a credit to you. Amazing how one can hear things differently. Great job!

Thank you Zoob! :-) James Horner‘s rejected score on CD would be a holy grail for me. It‘s such a beautiful music, especially the song…

Grave locked Dawn. Sounds like that's what she's saying, yes. I shall amend. Thanks Andreas!

I also amended: By which your life descends to: By which your life sustains

and: And low your Starry Bay to: And lo your Starry Bay

Oh great, Zooba! :-)

Two further suggestions:

- And though light may take flight to: And though LIFE may take flight

- Good fortune follows slow to: Good fortune follows THEN

I think we are getting closer and closer... ;-)

From your suggestions I have Amended. You have a great ear my friend!

Is it possible that: Don't ask, no reason why - is actually: DOTH ask, no reason why

DOTH is a Shakespeare word or term used a lot in his plays. It means DOES as in Does ask

Ahhh ok, I think you are right, Zoob. The Lyrics are apparently on the whole very poetic and "shakespearean" ;-)

Take US beyond the sky instead of: Take LAST beyond the sky. Makes more sense. I have amended.

A wild Romeo & Juliet thread appears! This thread was brought to my attention, and thought I could help demystify some of it. Here are the definitive lyrics:

"Our Love Is Like The Wind"
Music by: James Horner
Lyrics by: Julian Fellowes

Our love is like the wind
Our love is like a rose
By any name as sweet
Don’t ask, nor reason why

Our love is like the wind
And blows forever true
Good fortune follows where
We dance beyond the sky

The mask of night is near
With darkness in its trail
And though life may take flight
Our love will always soar

Until the grey-cloaked morn
Finds us in his embrace
The shadows free our hearts
The boundless skies to grace

Come loving, gentle night
And lower your starry veil
Our one is like the wind
By which all life does sail

On golden wings we fly
Through velvet clouds entwined
Take us beyond the sky
Our love is like the wind

Some bonuses from the Symphonic Canvas archives:

"R&J Song" original lyrics sheet w/ handwritten notes and edits by who we suspect is Julian Fellowes (c. Nov 2012).

"R&J Song" vocal sheet music from recording sessions w/ handwritten notations.

Wow.

Thank you so very much SYMPHONIC CANVAS! And thanks to whoever brought this post to your attention. It's like a great puzzle has finally been solved. I love seeing the words finally confirmed and to see the written notes is a true treat. And thank you also once again ANDREAS! It sure was fun trying to figure this out with you. I am so happy to see this all. Bravo Tutti! It's almost like James had seen this post from above and finally just called out, "Please someone, help these guys!"

I think the lines that were the hardest for me to hear were:

"Good fortune follows WHERE" It really sounds to me like she's saying "slow" or an "oh" sounding word. And "Until the grey-cloaked morn" Both of those were really baffling me.

Again, SymphonicCanvas, thank you SO much!

I love your piano performance Andreas! It is Beautiful.

Oh thank you very much, Zoob! :-) And thank you also for your efforts and bringing the attention anew to this topic, I almost had given up to see the authentic lyrics. "Grey-cloaked morn"...I think we had never cracked those lyrics without help ;-) Yes, it was fun to puzzle with you, Zoob, thank you!

Until the grave locked Dawn

I heard "Until the break of dawn", but listening again, where I heard "break", it does sound like a g sound at the start of the word. But it doesn't sound to my ears what the lryic apparently is: Until the grey-cloaked morn

And Doth ask - yeah, it sounds like Don't ask to me. Which makes more sense. Otherwise, why just the one archaic word?

We need this guy to really get the lyrics right - from 3:38

Near, far.
Where ever you are.
I believe that the hot dogs go on.

I’m not James, but you’re welcome wink

When I saw this we had a discussion about whether to step in and confirm the lyrics or just let it all play out, because in all honesty it was fun to see the engagement between you two as you worked through deciphering what the actual lyrics were.

When we made the two Romeo & Juliet video sequences for the “Balcony” scene and the introduction of Juliet, we wanted to continue from there to reveal the ins and outs of the overall production where appropriate, and this lyric thread allowed us to show a little more as an Easter egg of sorts.

I'm immense grateful to have the actual lyrics, thank you again! :-) Apparently you are sitting at the source...Do you see any chance for a release of the Horner score on CD?
