Vastly expanded compared to the previous 13 track, 34 minute releases. https://www.soundtrackcollector.com/title/22923/Hammersmith+Is+Out The gang at QUARTET did an outstanding job on that release, which I was surprised to find out was over 13 years ago. We were lucky to know one of the music supervisors on this film, the late Igo Kantor, who just handed us the tapes 20 years ago and wished us good luck. My person favorite track title is "Knockers Rockers" Ford A. Thaxton

Frontier is underrepresented on CD, so this comes as a big YES!

Thaxton That was a lucky break, but 20 years ago! Hammersmith must feel good to be finally out.

Frontier is underrepresented on CD, so this comes as a big YES! This particular effort was kind of a revelation for me, because it does cover a lot of ground, and he had the write in a variety of styles for this picture, and there's even a little bit of his outer limits score from the episode "100 days of the dragon" in it. Just downloaded this one and from the tracks I sampled ('Knockers Rocker' being one), I have to say it sounds terrific!

Frontier is underrepresented on CD, so this comes as a big YES! We completely agree on this topic and are exploring other titles from Mr. Frontiere's catalog. For those of you who purchased a CD with the digital download, have you had a chance to listen to the album? What are your thoughts on it? Ford A. Thaxton

For those of you who purchased a CD with the digital download, have you had a chance to listen to the album? What are your thoughts on it? Ford A. Thaxton I think it’s a very entertaining listen, which – as I said previously – has excellent sound throughout. I’ve never seen the film and probably doubt I’d ever want to, but I’d imagine the tone of the film was all over the place? The score has a very 7o’s sound (a big plus for me) and there is quite a lot of variety in the music. There is a great deal of jazzy up-tempo pop (a bit like ON ANY SUNDAY in parts), some of which I guess is source music but a lot which is part of the score. There is also less flamboyant music for dramatic scoring, but even that is varied and holds my interest. The drumming on the score is terrific and very punchy – I’d love to know who the performers were – you can hear this in several cues but ‘Knockers Rocker’ springs easily to mind as quite catchy, as a number of cues are. ‘Mustang Drive-In’ is an early favourite cue – snare drums, pounding timpani, strident brass and percussion, and some of the other cues would have made great cop-show music of the time. I did get the Quartet release of the original album and while I enjoyed it, it sounded a bit ‘source-musicky’ to me. I would never have guessed that Frontiere wrote quite a bit more music for the film and, I suspect, had great fun doing it!

I would never have guessed that Frontiere wrote quite a bit more music for the film and, I suspect, had great fun doing it! In my opinion, Quartet did an outstanding job on the original LP version of the album. However, it was designed to appeal to a mainstream commercial audience, which led to an emphasis on tunes and arrangements that would resonate with listeners in the 1970s rather than Film Score fans. This new release addresses those concerns by presenting the score in its original form. I believe you will enjoy this version. I also want to confess that my favorite track on this album is "Knockers Rockers." Ford A. Thaxton

Having listened to it all now, I think it's a great listen from start to finish. Perfect music while driving too.
