This will be a lavishly expensive souvenir of the movie, and not for purists.

Seems like that. It's also the Las Vegas way. Musicals that play on the Strip are cut down. The goal, of course, is to get people to Vegas but then to minimize any time that is not spent gambling.



Cutting it by 24 minutes and charging $105 per ticket?

I travel to Las Vegas periodically for bowling tournaments. Much as I love Wizard of Oz, and much as this had originally sounded like a "must see," it is not on my list of "other attractions to see" on my future trips.

That's a lotta clams.

I'm guessing they'll come out with a "new complete" version one day. And charge more.

Best I can find is that there is speculation that given the cost of re-recording the orchestral track, Warner Brothers MIGHT release an album to recoup costs. Surely they are smart enough to do that. After all, it involves $$$. Anyone heard anything more specific?
