A friend just alerted me to this.

So sad as he just celebrated his birthday.

Phenomenal age but one of the last true Titans.
Loved his work. Many classics.

Wonderful memory of his uk concert a few years ago - fabulous seeing live Magnum force, bullitt, enter the dragon and the other big hits. Terrific theme writer. Nice, relaxed personality on stage too.

Oh my! Very saddened, even a little shocked by this. Even when you think you're prepared for something like this, it can quite knock one for six.

A mission impossible for a lot of composers is to make music, a theme, that becomes famous and instantly memorable. And he did it.

So much good music from him. There's the aforementioned theme, but other TV themes I find strong and memorable: "Most Wanted" and "T.H.E. Cat"

Many classics indeed. Very sad news but he leaves us so much great music. I keep remembering scores he wrote that I haven’t thought about in years, astonishing body of work. RIP.

RIP to one of the most iconic film composers of all time. frown At least he had a good life, filled with wonderful music. I look forward to hearing his new Symphony, which I guess may be his final work.

He was the last great one of the Sixties era.
Tomorrow, I will listen to the Mission: Impossible boxset in his honor.
I also admired his Mannix body of work.

How very sad. In my opinion, the composer of the best film and tv music. His Mission Impossible theme started it all for me...

He was the last great one of the Sixties era.

Laurence Rosenthal, Dave Grusin, John Scott, and David Shire are all still with us as far as I know...
