24. Tracy To The Rescue (Mono Stem) 1:29

Neil

Frustrating that this couldn't be found among the stereo masters. I wonder what happened there?

LK spoke about 2 cues being damaged on the tapes back in 2003

Fortunately, it doesn’t offer anything radically different from ’Escape From Piz Gloria’ (in fact, I was never entirely sure if this cue was a tracked edit or not when watching the film - nice to know for sure)

Neither was I until I worked on this. I took the audio and put it up against every take of the theme we had to be sure. I even put it up against the film take of "Escape From Piz Gloria" and it didn't match. Lukas had said one reel was damaged. My guess is that reel had both of these selected takes and that's why they are missing.

I'm glad we were able to recover something and present them on this release.

Neil, in case of OHMSS - did you used original cue titles, or invented them (as Lukas did with YOLT in 2003)?

The cue sheets for most of Barry's Bond scores just have cue numbers, not names. The cue sheet for OHMSS is a bit unusual; it has titles for a few cues, but most just have brief descriptions of the scenes in which the music is heard. ("Bond in lift with Gunther being taken to Blofeld.") A few have both a title AND a brief description. I suppose proper titles might be listed somewhere else, but most are not on the cue sheet.

Hi Neil,

Very excited about the OHMSS release; it was an instant purchase.

I’m curious, is the film version of ‘Escape from Piz Gloria’ identical structurally to the album version, apart from the tremolo strings at the start? Presumably it was a different take, so there are subtle differences in the instrumentation/intonation?

Also does the ‘Grand Christmas Eve Ball’ track alternate between the ‘oom pa-pa’ brass band and skating music throughout? I’m just wondering if either melody develops or if it’s the same one on loop for the 2 minutes 55? Thank you.

Missed out on the Intrada version, so I'm absolutely overjoyed that Red October is getting another release.

Soundtrack highlight of the year for me! Thanks LLL!

The sound quality is definitely improved as I could tell after listening. The bulk of extras look great but I always enjoyed the ost program so that’s upgraded too and added to.
