You know that is great that Zimmer patched it up with Southall. But the event shows a serious flaw in his character. Southall did nothing at all wrong. Powerful and successful people should not stomp on little people just writing their thoughts on a blog, and it is especially odd that the thing was set off by Southall writing about Junkie XL, not Zimmer himself. I believe Zimmer patched it up as much as any other reason because he realized that he had embarrassed himself acting like a middle school bully. This is an idiotic and arrogant notion that if you are successful and powerful that you are somehow exempt from people not liking your work, or the work of your farm composers, or writing about how they do not like it.

I think Zimmer should have had thicker skin for sure and he definitely should have handled that better. But at the same time, Southall didn't just say he didn't like Junkie's work. I can't remember the conversion, but it was more than that. Zimmer wanted to stand by his friend. I get it, even though I think Zimmer should have done better. However, I don't agree with your statement that "powerful" and "successful" people should not stomp on "little" people writing on a blog. You reminded me of sports fans who say, "athletes shouldn't react to fans yelling at them from the stands." Some fans absolutely should get called out. Charles Barkley even said that sometimes he wished he could have asked some fans heckling him to go to center court and asked they would repeat what they said to his face. Successful or not, they are people. You can call them out and they can respond.

I don't really care about his music, but in the early 2000s he did a few film scores which I really like. The ones I have in mind are 'Gladiator', 'The Last Samurai', and 'King Arthur'.

These three are really great. King Arthur is a score that I have such an affinity for. It is one of the most powerful, rhythmically poetic scores of that era. Shame the film it accompanies is such a slog.
